My son was the 1st grandchild on both sides of the family.
This baby will be #2 for my parents
and #3 for my IL's. My child and SIL's child will be 6 months apart.

It is the first grandchild on both sides for us. My parents are over the moon excited, and so are my brother and sister.
DH's parents...I feel like they are kind of "eh." They have not called me one time the entire pregnancy and I don't really feel like they have much interest. You would think now that I am days away from having the baby they would at least answer the phone when DH calls! We couldn't get in touch with them the entire weekend and when DH finally talked to them last night he was like your grandson could be two days old by now and you wouldn't know!!!!  
Meanwhile my mom is the total other extreme and every time I call her she's like "where are you, is it time?"  She even went out and finally bought a cell phone so I could reach her!!!!

This will be the 10th grandchild on my side and the 4th on DHs. You'd think it would be old hat for everyone, but they are all thrilled and anxious to meet

It'll be the first grandchild on my SO's side. On my side, my step-father's daughter has two kids so it was kind of a preview for my Mom, but she still considers this her first true Grandchild. It's also the first for my Dad.

This is the first grandchild for both sides. They are both uber excited.
My mom was so happy to look at the ultrasound pic. They didn't have those images 30 years ago and she thought it was so amazing.
I actually wish we weren't getting so much attention.

First grandchild on both sides!
My parents are completely obsessed with anything regarding my baby! Lots of shopping and questions and help...
I know in laws are excited, but they show it in different ways- On the outside my parents appear to be way more "into" it... in laws not so much, although I know they are happy especially to be having a little girl coming after 3 boys!

DS is the first grandchild on both sides.
it's really nice to see both sets of grandparents get so excited over every little thing he does, but since they both live so close to us, sometimes it's very hard to make sure they all get enough face time. my own parents have complained about having to "share" DS with my ILs.
unfortunately i don't see my sisters or my SIL settling down and having kids anytime soon, my guess is that i will be on #3 before there is another grandchild in the family

i can totally relate! RObs parents have 7 grandkids including one set of twin girls already....our boys will make 8 and 9 and i mean come on...identical twins....who can resist shopping for and talking about them LOL maybe im partial because they are my identical twins on the way LOL....my parents dont have any yet as i am an only child...and my parents have been supportive....sent a congratulations card..my mother even flew up for 2 wks from florida bc im on bedrest and super weak....his parents havent so much as called other then 2 times....it hurts my feelings bc they werent this way with other grandkids and i feel like they are already shunning my boys.....in the end my boys wouldnt know the difference bc my parents are soo full of love for them...just hurts.....let it roll of your back..stressing wont helpo....but have you mentioned it to your IL's?

We are having the first granchild for my parents and the first greatgrandchild for my grandma.
For Dh... It is his mother's first grandchild.
Dh's dad has two step grandchildren. But they are no different than biological grandchildren to him. So technically, it is his first biological grandchild.
But on Dh's side it is the 4th greatgrandchild.

This baby will be the first grandchild on both sides!! My parents are going crazy, and are beyond excited. My Dh's mom is excited but not the way we expected, She shows more excited over her best friends grand child but I can't stand her so it doesn't really bother me!!

I can understand I was pregnant with my parent's first grandchild(my MIL already has 3 grandchildren) when I had a miscarriage. My SIL got pregnant basically the same month I lost my baby so all the focus was on my brother's new baby as I was mourning the loss of my own. My parents were definately excited when I got pregnant a couple of months later, but I feel like they just experienced all the "firsts" with my SIL and brother and THEN I did the same stuff(sonos and such) a few months later.
I am sure your parents are really excited- it just that it isn't at new experience.

on my side my sis already has 2(one of each), they are excited for me, i think not being the first actually works out as all the kinks of how often the family visit were broached with them so it should be a little bit easier on us
dh's side it is the first grandchild, dh's brother is still living at home so i guess ds/dh will get the spotlight for a while.
, and for dh' the mothers side is the first great grandchild. on the fathers side after my mc last year dh's cousin got pregnant out of the blue so it would be the 2nd

Our baby will not be the first grandchild on DH's side... my BIL has 3 and my SIL is due a few weeks before me, which is so fun for us!
Our baby will be the first grandchild for my parents and they are ecstatic. It will be so special for them as all of my aunts and uncles and my parents' good friends have grandchildren. they are so excited!
