Re: weight gain question
I think that's fine. If you're average weight you should aim to gain no more than 35 lbs during your whole pregnancy.
So that's 40 weeks, one lb. per week after the first 5 weeks. ;)

I am 26 weeks and I gained 17 pounds too... Not sure if you/we are "normal" but doesn't seem like TOO much to me

Re: weight gain question
I was normal weight before and gained 10 now at 24 weeks. I think it just varies for every one.

Re: weight gain question
I think every one is different - you can't really gage yourself based on others or you'll go crazy re: did I gain enough/too much -
I have gained 1.5 lbs at 18 weeks - My good friend has gained 15 and is due 5 days before me .......

Re: weight gain question
At 21 weeks, I was up 20...and I was an average weight before. My doctor was perfectly fine with it (and even told me I look terrific!).

Re: weight gain question
I'm 20.5 weeks and am down 4 pounds.
I had originally lost 10 pounds so I'm up 6 pounds from my "lowest" weight.
My good friend is 24 weeks and is up 22 pounds. Everyone is different.

Re: weight gain question
Everyone is different. Some people put on weight gradually while others go through spurts. The baby gains more weight towards the end so you may see a larger increase during the 3rd trimester. If you have severe swelling like I do, you may see a large weight gain over a short period of time. It sounds like you're doing well, but there's really no way to predict how much weight you'll gain during the second half of your pregnancy.
I wouldn't worry about your weight gain unless your doctor says something.

Re: weight gain question
I'm 33 wks and have gained almost 30 lbs. I don't know if people are just being nice but they say "it doesn't look like I've gained weight at all". I hope they are right...........it "seems" to be all baby and my a$$ has also increased in size........no swelling though fortunately.

Re: weight gain question
Everyone is different. Some gain in the beginning, middle or end. All of my friends gained at different preiods and ended up around the same at the end.
My Dr. said I started out slightly under weight, and I have gain 19 lbs. at 28 weeks (9 of that was in the last five weeks!!!) the month before I had only gained 1 lb in the month, so it changes. According to my Dr. you may have growth spurts in the middle and then slow down.
