Car seat warmers....myth or reality??
I got into a converstion with a girl from work about seat warmers and she said she heard that if your pregnant you shouldn't use it. I have never heard of such a thing....I kept my tush nice and toasty with my first DD and she turned out ok. Is she nuts or what?

I used it throughout my pregnancy with DS, and he is perfectly fine. I never heard that.

I use mine all the time. It has gotten me through some rough days with sciatica and it has been a savior.

Re: Car seat warmers....myth or reality??
i came across that a few times and i cant remember where i read it. It said car seat warmers and even electric blankets or mattress pads. I am cautious so im not using my car seat warmer, or my electric blanket
Found this: Regarding other sources of EMF (electric blankets, heated waterbeds, ceiling cable electric heat and power lines), some studies have suggested that spontaneous abortion, growth retardation and congenital defects are more frequent during the coldest month of the year (when the exposure to these EMF would have been higher).

Uh oh- I sleep in a heated waterbed and use my car seat warmers all the time!

I heard that somewhere, but I don't know how much credence to give it. I think it's more along the lines of the same reason you shouldn't use a regular heating pad on "that area", because it could get too warm and cause distress to the baby.
But I don't think the car seat warmers get warm enough for that.

Re: Car seat warmers....myth or reality??
I used my car seat warmer constantly (even in the summer) as well as my heating pad to help ease lower back pain. Both are fine to use. I wouldn't lay a heating pad across my tummy or anything for the same reason you wouldn't sit in a hot tub but other than that you're fine.

Re: Car seat warmers....myth or reality??
I thought about this too. My Dr. warned me against electric blankets, so aren't they kind of the same thing?
I have been using them (the heated seats) sparingly. As soon as the car warms up, I turn it off.
