AAAAHHHH my son is headbanging why is this happening????
he just started and it is very disturbing to watch.
he does it when he is having a tantrum or is frustrated i am very worried about this as he hits it really hard.
should i call the ped? has anyone else had exerience with this ?
i also just gave birth to his sister 3 weeks ago do you think he is acting out because of this ? im just so worried that this transition in our home is freaking him out and this is his way of showing us that. he is 21 months .
any advice is appreciated im at a loss at what to do

Re: AAAAHHHH my son is headbanging why is this happening????
My son did this for awhile. The thought of it now - makes me giggle (he's 3.5) but I remember how annoying it was then. I did talk to the ped at a well care about it since it was so new to me then. She said make sure they are safe and ignore it. I learned to ignore it, move him to a safer location, and distraction. It's a stage and it ends eventually. Good Luck!

Re: AAAAHHHH my son is headbanging why is this happening????
I went through the same thing last year and I can tell you it is a long phase that does go away. DS was about 10 months when he started doing it and I would put him on the area rug and leave him. It stopped after about a month (I ignored him). When DS was 13.5 months old we moved in with my parents for a month since we were inbetween houses and at 14.5 months I gave birth to DD. A week after giving birth we were in our new home in a different state. We were their I think a month and the head banging started again. It was worse this time, he would go around banging his forhead on the tile floor on the walls, doors where ever it was hard (he would move off the area rugs). He had quite a few bumps on his head from doing and 2 or 3 times olive size bumps. I spoke to our ped. and she said it is just a phase because everythign that went on. DS was now 18 months and DD was 3 months and I started to have him help me with her. I was BF so he couldn't help with feedings but he knew where the garbage was and he would throw out he diapers for me. I would make a big about him helping me and it stopped from then on. I think if you start including him more it will get better faster. Another thing, and this may sound awful but since your DD is still so young, it's ok to ignore her a little just so your DS knows that just because she is around you still love him and that you guys can still have fun. By the time she is more active you will notice a difference in him.
GL It get's easier, I promise!
