Re: peanut butter
nope... that's the only cravings I get is for PB. I don't have it too often (or at least try not to), but when I do I induldge. I actually read PB is good to have when you're pregnant b/c it has a lot of good nutrients.

Re: peanut butter
PB is totally fine when you're pregnant. It's babies and little kids that aren't supposed to eat it before they're 2 I think. But pregnant, eat it all you want.

Re: peanut butter
My Dr didn't say anything about PB or peanuts. I haven't had much only because it is one of those things I have been turned off by.
I was talking to my Mom about this just the other night and she said PB&Js were a staple for her during all of her PGs (apparently she had the same craving every time) Anyway, there are 7 of us and none of us are allergic to peanuts. Not very scientific, but that's how it worked out in our family
ETA: there was an article in American Baby (I think) this month that said eating peanuts and PB during PG can increase the chance of your child having a peanut allergy.

Re: peanut butter
It's perfectly fine, although I haven't indulged much in my favorite food, just because I haven't wanted it.
Although, at my Mommy Class given at my OB's office, the nurse did say that some Drs. will tell you once you enter the 3rd trimester to stay away from products that contain peanuts, and if you are going to breastfeed, to stay away from them as well until you are finished breast feeding.
So, as with most things, there are mixed schools of thoughts on Peanut Butter and peanut products. Some people follow them, and others don't.

Re: peanut butter
I'm avoiding it due to the link to asthma in children when eaten during pregnancy.

In moderation I am sure it's fine, but I personally won't be eating it every day, and I used to pre-PG.

Re: peanut butter
I love it but have not touched it. My DH has asthma/allergies, and I read enough to convince me that it's an extra precaution I could take to prevent asthma/allergies in my child due to the family history. My dr didn't believe the connection, but I had to go with my gut on it and stay away.

The studies seem to say that if you have a family hsitory of asthma or allergies, then eating PB during pg/BF might lead your child to develop that as well. Not so much for families without any history.

That's interesting, we do have histories of asthma and allergies (as well as auto-immune diseases which are often aggravated by food allergies such as dairy). We are all allergic to dairy and then other allergies vary by person (pollens, animal dander, venomous bites, medications etc.). I know the studies show a trend, not a definitive, I wonder if there is more too it though, like environmental factors that could account for the trend taking place in certain generations.

Re: peanut butter
If you have a family history of nut allergies, I'd consider staying away. Otherwise, you should be fine. I eat peanut butter most days. I won't have it while BFing, but I feel comfortable eating it during pregnancy.

Re: peanut butter
A friend of mine ate PB every day of her preg and her daughter has a peanut allergy. I love it and try to avoid it, but it is impossible, especially since my lunch options are are slim -- no soup (too much sodium) or cold cuts! I eat it 2x a week
