Pediatrician Questions
Ok, so I think I found a practice. How do I interview a pediatrician? Do I just call and ask questions? Did you all speak to a doctor in the practice? What questions did you ask? I'm not a medicine kind of gal so I don't forsee myself being the type to call a pediatrician a lot (in fact I have to be dying to go to the doctor for myself). Any help or advice. Thanks

DH and i just started making appointments with peds. I called up and said i wanted to make an appointment for a new patient consult (i thought this sounded much better than - I want to interview you  )
We went to one office already, and have set up two more in the upcoming weeks. The office we went to they gave us a tour, a basket with goodies (a binder with office info, suggested vaccination schedule etc etc - along with freebies from Aveeno, similac and enfamil  ) she went over pharmacy hours and who would answer our calls during and off hours. At this office, we did not speak with a doctor.
Two of the other offices we are scheduled to visit, we will be speaking directly to the doctors. My main concerns are the vaccination schedule and their views on being flexible with it, if there is a separate area for "sick" visits vs. well visits, if there is a nurse available to speak with me immediately to answer a question over the phone (not wait for a call back).
Alot of women ask about hospital affiliation also - if the ped does not have rights to practice in the hospital you are delivering in, they will not examine your baby until he/she comes home.
