Re: Constipation

Have you tried:

Matamucil
Fiber One or Raisin Bran
Prunes or other types of dried fruit(cherries, apricots etc)
Check with your Dr but I am pretty sure you can use senokot or colace FYI-it DOES get better in your 2nd tri-make sure you are drinking tons of water

Re: Constipation

Make sure you are drinking a lot of water. The main reason for constipation is that during pregnancy your body needs A LOT more fluid and therfore it will actually pull moisture from your intestines and that in return makes your poop hard.

Also make sure you are oncreasing your fiber. Usually a nice big salad with lots of veggies will help things start moving along for me.

If you are doing all of this and still having issues as your practitioner what they recomend!

lol if you have a problem, you def need to ask your doctor about it. i spoke with mine, and she gave me a rx for collace, stool sotftener..also if you were put on an iron supplement, thats making it much worse...my prenatal vitamins have a stool softener in them which works like a charm!! they are called, "precare premier tablets" maybe you can talk to your dr about switching to them? if nothing does help to move things along, look at the bright side.. i read in a book that the pushing you do to poop while you are pregnant is the best practice for pushing out your baby Chat Icon!!! good luck to you!!!!!! push! push! push! Chat Icon and good luck!!!

Re: Constipation

water and fiber...

Mine was bad, and then it got better-- so I am not sure how far along you are, but your body may get adjusted to the change in hormones which is causing it.

Really look at your foods-- and try to eat things that have a lot of fiber. Ease into it-- since if your body is not used to a lot of fiber, your stomach may get a little upset if you start eating a ton.

When I am not pregnant-- I take charcoal tablets which REALLY help me. When I was having a lot of problems during pregnancy, my doctor said I could take them, but I wanted to try to poop on my own-- no easy task whatever my state is! So, I take them only if I haven't gone in a few days. I used to take them with every meal-- and every morning after I woke up, I would go.

YEah, PUSHING is NOT a good thing!!! Fast way to get hemroids. I NEVER strain and I have yet to get any discomfort or bleeding back there. The main cause of rectal hemrhoids is constipation in which people push to hard and strain to get it out.

Work on softening your stool not pushing!!!
