We did not take any classes for any of the pregnancy's we were told it was a waste of time from everyone..
Same here! My friend told me the same thing so we are not taking any.

Re: Is anyone NOT taking any classes??
Dh has a busy schedule and often brings work home on weekends and works until 730-8 (most classes seems to start at like 6 and I wasn't home from the city yet) most nights so taking a class was hard. It was a lot of money and honestly I had a hard time finding one that fit our schedules. We got the Laugh and Learn DVD and it was very helpful, much cheaper, and the best was that we could watch in on our own schedule (and it is divided into chapters so you can watch a short chapter at a time)

Re: Is anyone NOT taking any classes??
If it were up to me I'd say the hell w/ it - but DH is ALL about it.
I said NO WAY to lamaze, total waste of time to teach me how to 'breathe' IMO - I'm sure it works for some, but I know myself and there's NO way it would work for me -
So I'm looking into some other stuff to appease DH -

Well, isn't THIS a timely discussion!
I actually signed up for the New Baby Belly class, but got REAMED today from my doctor because "we are not taking 6 lamaze sessions". She feels we are not going to be prepared, DH will bring me back and forth to the hospital unnecessarily before 's time and she also said that LIJ "will really need to bend the rules to let him in the delivery room without a lamaze certificate".
Sounds like total BS to me, especially because I know people who had their first child at LIJ w/o taking lamaze.
Plus what about the people who don't HAVE an extra $200 or so or time in general to take a class?!
OMG I have never heard of that before... Sounds to me like someone at LIJ has no clue what they are talking about

I got the DVD and think that should be fine... I asked my OB and he said that the hospital wont give my dh any problems w/o a lamaze certificate.

Re: Is anyone NOT taking any classes??
I'm only taking infant CPR. I bought a DVD for childbirth, and read about different breathing methods on line, but I think when the time comes I just have to do what works for me. I'm hoping to go all natural, too. We'll see.

Re: Is anyone NOT taking any classes??
I probably will not, may take a baby care course but doubt it.
As for lamaze, I have no interest in that.
