baby einstein dvd's worth it?
Just looking to get views on what people think about baby einstein videos. Trying to decide if i should investing in joing the club where they send you a dvd every month. TIA

You will definitely get mixed opinions on this topic. My DD loved them and at the age of 2 still watches some of them. She loves the Babies First Signs and learned some sign language from it, which was very useful before she was talking. I think we have 8 of them.

Im going to say that joining the club isnt worth it...save your money. DS did really enjoy them when he was around 2-4 months old...they were like baby crack. But I dont think you need the whole series or anything..and you can always watch them on YOUTUBE too..

We aren't getting them... To many studies talking about overstimulation from them. DH and I don't believe in putting a baby in front of a TV to "entertain" them. THey are going to want to watch TV when they are a toddler so we will let them watch educational programs every once in a while but in limited quantities.

My DD hated them and still really doesn't watch TV for longer than 20 minutes or so and then gets bored with it. So I would borrow them from a friend if you wanted to try them out.

I was all set to buy these but DH did his research and found several articles/studies that state these DVDs don't help but are usually counterproductive.
I believe the best thing for your child is human interaction. Supposedly verbal development is highly correlated to the parents' vocabulary and it's really good to read to your child. I plan to do a lot of reading with my baby.

Andrew hated them. I know they are meant for babies but they seemed a little too immature for a baby. They never kept his interest.

My son loved them the first nine months - I haven't put one on in ages now -- we're too into the Backyardigans these days! 
I don't know that I would invest in getting them once a month - but I would get a few - that will do the job!

I have both box sets of them- DS could care less about them and there was one or two he was even a little "scared" of...One of the box sets was never even opened. If it were me, I'd maybe rent one or two from the library to see if your DC takes to them before joining a club, otheriwise they may end up on a shelf like mine !

I wouldn't get too many of them. I have 3 of them and there is only 1 of them that my dd really likes and holds her interest.

DD#1 didn't really dig them, and at one point she started to scream whenever the caterpillar came out so we stopped using them and just never went back.
i'm not a big fan of plunking babies in front of t.v. and am now battling a toddler who in my opinion watches too much. i would just get a couple to start and see how it goes...
