Spent some time in L & D last night

I was at a party and suddenly got very dizzy and disoriented. It lasted for about 10-15 minutes and I couldn't shake the dizziness. I knew It wasn't low blood sugar because I had just eaten.

I decided to leave and on the way home called my OB. He said to go right to L & D just to check me out. When I got there, they hooked me up to the monitor, drew some blood, and took a urine sample. Once on the monitor, they realized I was having contractions every few minutes and were concerned about this but the baby was absolutely fine. They gave me IV fluids and hoped it would go away, but it didn't.

The also checked my cervix and did another test that would tell them if I was going to go into labor. If it came back neg. I would be fine. pos. I would have a 50% chance of going into labor within a week. My cervix was closed and the test ended up coming back negative. (Thank god because I was not prepared to deliver this baby within a week!)

They then gave me a series of 3 shots (I dont remember the name- starts with a T a believe). They start with one and then overtime, if the contractions dont go away, give you another, and then the last. The shots did help the contractions go away.

In the meantime, my blood and urine came back and I have a really bad UTI. The nurse was actually surprised the DR. was going to let me go home because it was so bad. I had no clue I had UTI - no symptoms, and I drink a ton of water. They gave me a prescription and told me to drink more water and I was able to go home.

So girls- drink lots and lots of water and listen to your body.

As a funny little side note- the baby hated the fetal monitor. He constantly kicked it and moved away from it. It was hysterical.

I hope your UTI clears up quickly!

My little guy hated the monitor too...the nurses had to keep adjusting the belt. Chat Icon
