Birth Control

My apologies beforehand if any of you deem this to be too personal of a question.

I was just wondering what everyone plans on doing for birth control after the baby is born ( if you are going back on it).

I got pregnant on the pill. I had been on it for like 15 years and honestly I was getting tired of it.

Aside from condoms ( which I don't really like but will use if I have to), I have not tried any other methods.

DH and I cannot really afford to have another oops as I will have a very uncertain job sitiuation.

So wondering what everyone is planning to do.

Thanks!!!!

Re: Birth Control

I can't do anything with hormones, so I have never been on the pill, and latex condoms are also a no-no, so we charted. We charted CM mostly, since temping was erratic waking up all the time with an infant.

When I was at my OB recently, she mentioned a non-hormonal implant also that I might look into after this one is born.

Re: Birth Control

Im not a fan of the pill during bfing... and this being baby #2... and cant afford 3 under 3.. i think absitance is the way ill be going. I dont think Ill be bfing too long.. my goal is at least a month right now.. with a toddler runnign around well see what happens.

Then once bfing is done... going right on the BCP.. they worked great for us before so im sure it will work again.

Re: Birth Control

I will not be going back on the pill. I cannot get pregnant without medical help anyway so birth control is a non issue for us.

Re: Birth Control

I want to get an IUD. I don't ovulate on my own and will get a period only one or twice a year if I don't have something that will help me regulate my hormones. I don't want to go back on BCP because I wasn't liking the side effects before I stopped taking them.

Re: Birth Control

I will go back on the mini-pill...I was on it before my first pregnancy, went on it at 6 weeks pp, breastfed until 9 months, and got pregnant the first month I came off of it at 9 months...it works for us.

Re: Birth Control

I actually consider myself a little bit lucky in this respect. I have PCOS--so I don't ovulate on my own, and I don't have cycles on my own. So I really don't have to do much. I just have to take a pill once every few months to bring on a cycle.

Re: Birth Control

i feel similar to you. I was on birth control for 9 years and when i came off it i was so happy.

We have never used condoms and i dont think we'll start.

I guess we'll try the good ol pull and pray method!

Re: Birth Control

I think we'll be pulling and praying. We hope to have a 2nd baby fairlly soon after our 1st baby and since I hope to be BFing I don't want to go back on the pill yet. Condoms and I don't agree.

Re: Birth Control

I cannot be on the pill, so we used condoms, now we are going the "whatever happens, happens route"
