GREAT question. I'm also thinking about taking them. I've heard great things about them and were told by a few that they are so much more usefull than lamaze classesChat Icon

It would defenitely help, whether you are planning a natural or medicated birth. It is suppose to help alleviate a lot of fears that women have about labor and teach some really good relaxation techniques that you can start using before you are pregnant. You may also be able to go longer before getting an epidural and therefor shorten the lenght of your labor!

Re: Hypno-Birthing................

Hypno-birthing, although they say is hypnosis is a class that teaches you about labro and birth and how it doesn't have to be as painful as well all imagine it to be. The teach relaxation techniques that you can start using before you even go into labor.

My midwife group highly reccomends the class. They say women, especially those planning natural child brith, usually have shorter labors, less discomfort and enjoy the experience.

Re: Hypno-Birthing................

I would like to know about this as well. I ideally would like to go without drugs, though i am not against taking them if necessary. If I can do it naturally, I will. I have heard great things about hypno birthing.

I haven't decided between this or the bradley method. But, it will be one of those.

I was looking between teh two of them and I read the ciriculum of the bradley method and it was all very introductory. I delivered a bunch of babies so I figured I would go with something a bit different......

They still go over all the stages of labor adn that stuff in hypno-birthing!

Re: Hypno-Birthing................

I used Hypnobabies with DS and plan to use it again. I highly recommend it.

From what I have read about Hypnobirthing, it mostly teaches deep relaxation and visualization techniques. Hypnobabies actuallly teaches real hypnosis and most people find it more helpful than Hypnobirthing. But, it's hard to find a Hypnobabies instructor. You can do the Hypnobabies home study course (I did that) or you can take Hypnobirthing and order supplemental materials from Hypnobabies if you want to learn more.

Hypnobabies worked really well for me. It got me through 19 hours of back labor, including 2 1/2 hours of pushing --all drug-free, so that's saying something about its effectiveness!

There's a great Hypnobabies Yahoo chat group -- check it out.

Wow, great thanks! I didn't even know about hypnobabies.

I'm so glad it worked for you and you had a positive experience with it.

Would you happen to have a link to the Yahoo group? I am horrible at finding those things!

Thanks again!!

I did wind up with an epidural but only had it in for one hour. I would have been able to do it without one but noone checked me for a while and was 10cm after I had it in!
