PLEASE READ: Early Contractions brought on by bladder infection

So girls, for the past two weeks I have been home from work due to early contractions in my 19th week due to a bladder infection...it has been very scary and I don't want any of you girls to experience this. About 4 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a uti, given amoxicillin to take for ten days and then a follow up appt about 2 weeks later...apparently, my uti either never went away or I got a new one which became a bladder infectionChat Icon ....so right away my advice to you, is that if you have a uti, make sure you go back to the dr's office a few days after you finish your antibiotics to have them check if the uti is gone......
So anyway, last Monday night I started having these stomach pains(or so I thought) that felt like a stomach ache or as though I maybe had to go to bathroom, but nothing was happening there...so I tried to go to sleep and did not sleep a wink because my pain wouldn't subside..AT ALL..it seemed to come in waves..so first thing in the morning I ended up going to my dr's office where they took my urine and cultures, sent me for a sonogram to check my cervix and told me to stay off my feel for a few days...in that few days the pain had subsided somewhat, but I was getting this pelvic tightening/pain about every 10-20 min that wouldn't go away day or night. That thurs, they told me to come back in and said I had a bladder infection which was causing early contractions. They prescribed me Macrobid and said to stay home from work till Monday...well Monday came and I went into my check up..btw the contractions were gone at this point, but I still get tightening in the pelvic area if I move to fast or go over a bump in the car...at my check up the DR told me I would have to stay home till next Monday(10-6) just to make sure they completely go away and that the infection has cleared....so here I am at home right now taking it really easy and going out of my mind....So, point is...don't let this happen to you...if you suspect you have a uti, get it treated right away! Or if you don't have symptoms(like me) and then are diagnosed with one, make sure you go back a few days after your treatment is over and the antibiotics have cleared from your system to check to see if it really gone....these early contractions can lead to early labor...and my munchkin isn't ready yet...So girls, please watch out for this and take care of yourselfs...and say a little prayer for me if you can that I'll be back in action next week with no worries of early labor...Thanks for listeningChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

omg Indira!!!! I've seriously been wondering where you've been. You poor thing! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm happy that they at least caught everything when they did, and your contractions didn't progress any further. Please take it easy and let your DH spoil you and your little one. I'm saying prayers and sending hugs, take care of yourself. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks for sharing this. My dr told me infections of any sort can cause PTL. So yes, it is important to keep on infections, even tooth related/dental ones.

Glad you are better and it's under control. -

Glad you are ok! When I went to L&D last week with some contractions, the first thing they did was check my urine for infections!
