worried...***update**

I am going to preface this by saying that I am not once to jump at every little ache and pain at all....

Anyway I have been having some very uncomfortable lower abdominal cramping pretty much all morning. I have not had any type of cramping at all this pregnancy (Im 25 weeks).

I called my Dr. and apparently they are both out today. The nurse called the covering Dr. for me and he is delivering a baby. She told me to drink two glasses of water and that the covering dr will call as soon as he is done.

I am just worriedChat Icon

***update
So they wound up sending me to Stony Brook for monitoring. It was just a LOooonngggg afternoon.Apparently 3 sets of twins were born yesterday!!!! They did a zillion tests and all is fine with me and the baby. They chalked the cramping up to not drinking enough and ligament stretching. The baby was pizzzzeeedd having all the monitors on my belly and DH couldnt believe how crazy Baby was kicking and moving like crazy the whole time we were there. The nurse kept having to come and and move the heart monitor because baby would kick it and move away LOL. There were no signs of early labor at all...cervix long and closed etc. I feel better knowing everything is fine, but wish I had a more concrete answer as far as the cramping because I was very uncomfortable again when I got home last night.

Re: worried...

I'd drink more than 2 glasses. It's probably just that you are dehydrated. But if you don't feel any better after you hydrate call back.

I'm discovering new aches and pains daily but if you're worrried it's better to get your fears relieved than to stress yourself out.

Re: worried...

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Drink the water, and get up to take a little walk. Hopefully it is just dehydration.

I think I remember some ligament pains around 25 weeks, so it might just be that.

Re: worried...

I agree with Heather... try not to get yourself worked up.

Drink a lot of fluid and try to relax a bit. I too notice new little pains every day, but if it is really uncomfortable, you should definitely err on the side of caution.

Are the doctor's supposed to call you back? I would suspect that if you explained what you are feeling to the nurse, and she felt it was an emergency, you wouldn't just be sitting by the phone waiting for them to call you back.

See if it eases up and then call back. If it persists and you are not getting the help you want-- you can always go to the ER to finally get some answers.

Re: worried...

What kind of pain is it? Is your abdomen tightening? It could be braxton hicks. Also maybe TMI, but have you been consipated? It could be GI related too. Drink lots and lots of water and see if you start to feel any better. Chat Icon

Re: worried...

Does sound like you might be a little dehydrated..Is it cramping or more like tightening ? I had tightening last week and when I called the OB's she said it could be the uterus stretching and we are the same week...Give it a little bit, then call back to put your mind at ease Chat Icon

Re: worried...

Chat Icon Drink lots of water.. put your feet up and watch a movie.. just try and relax and take deep breaths and i know its not easy as it sounds.. try and not think about it and relax.. the extra stress of worrying isnt good for the baby. Im sure its just your bodys way of saying "hey mommy, take a break"..

Hope all is well!

Re: worried...

Drink a lot of water and lay down if possible. Could be normal braxton hicks if you are dehydrated. Keep on your dr to check you out asap.

Re: worried...

I'm getting cramping today, too, but I just realized that I'm not drinking a ton of water (I'm 23 weeks along). Whenever I have a day off from teaching, I seem to lose my structure with eating/drinking water. I'm going to go and drink some water now...

Re: worried...

Happened to me too, started around 18 weeks. It was braxton hicks.
It could also be from dehydration.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
