Amazing Apple Dapple Cake
So you have a really crap week at work, what do you do to help you unwind? Bake an Apple Dapple cake. This cake is AWESOME!
And here is a picure of the one that I made...

Because of this thread.. I made one on Friday. It was soooooo good. Like caramel covered apples and pecans.
I think I messed it up because it had more of a 'muffin' consistancy than cake. But it was goood.
Note the usage of past tense. It was THAT good.

OMG I am so excited that you guys tried this! I feel like Jamie Oliver on the Ministry of Food!
His message is to teach two people to cook a recipe and in a year, you can teach ONE BILLION TRILLION QUADRILLION people to cook that recipe.

3 c. all purpose flour
1 t. salt
1. t. soda
1. cup pecans, chopped
1 c. wesson oil
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 t. vanilla
3 cups raw apples, peeled and chopped fine
Mix oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt, soda. Add to first mixture. Fold in pecans and apples. Bake in tube pan at 350 for 1 hour.
Sauce
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup margarine(1 1/2 sticks)
Mix and cook 3 minutes after it begins to gently boil, stirring constantly. Pour over hot cake while cake is still in pan. Let cake cool completely before removing.

I made it with only 1/2 c of pecans and it was good, so I am sure it would be good with none...but better with them
The hardest part of the cake is peeling the apples. It is sooooooooooooooo amazingly good!

What other apples can I use for a more intense flavor?

Galas are usually too sweet for cooking. Best bet is usually granny smith or macintosh when baking...
