britax boulevard car seats

If you use a britax seat I have some questions,
1) Do you use the straps coming from the back of your car that go over the top of your seat, it just looks wrong to me but the booklet recommends them. I don't recall ever seeing ANY child in a car seat with this

2) I just put DC in this rear facing at nine months and his feet seem somewhat tight to the back of the seat. I know I can't turn him until at least a year (he is already close to twenty pounds) but is this normal?

3) Does you DC seem to sit more leaning forward, head not against the back? Is this normal....maybe I am just too used to him being so snug in the infant seat?

I am aready a bit disappointed as it was so expensive and I'm not sure it is all that great, maybe just takes some geting used to Chat Icon

Did you recline the seat? If not, do that, he might sit back further. I don't use the tether, it's tight without it. Not to mention it looks cumbersome, I saw one car with it tethered. The feet can hit the seat, if you recline, it helps with that.

Definitely recline the seat when rear facing. Also, adjust the straps by turning the knobs on the sides, so that they are slightly below DC's shoulders when rear facing. You don't have to use the tether. I use it. I do think that it made it a bit tighter. Hope this helps!

I can't answer your questions very well since i didn't install it, but I would suggest going to have the installation checked to make sure it is right. They will be able to answer all your questions from a safety point of view.

Britax is one of the few brands in the US where you can use the top tether rear-facing. I used it and attached it to the floor under the front seats. It makes a big difference in how secure the seat is.

There is absolutely no problem with having DC's feet touch the back of the seat. It's quite normal, especially if you keep DC rear-facing for 18 months or more (which you really should, for their safety).

The tether looks weird, but we use it. Anything that gives DS a little more protection in an accident--I don't think it's absolutely necessary, but it might help. Ours goes across the top of the carseat.

DSs feet are okay--he is about 20 pounds I think and 30 inches. Did you recline the seat? In the rear position, it should be reclining. That could explain feet hitting the seat.
