Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I would much prefer to have a vaginal delivery, but because DS is breech I had to schedule a c/s. I'm disappointed, but this is just the way things are and I am ok with that. I'm not going to get all upset over something that I can't control.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

Since I am high-risk (and also carrying twins), my OB said it was likely I would have a C-section. I have no problem with it at all.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

do I prefer to have major abdominal surgery rather than a vag delivery?

HECK NO! I don't trust VBAC's so that would mean I'd be lined up for sections for subsequent pregnancies....

Only if the baby is in distress......

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

No way!!! I dont want a C-section unless its medically necessary. The recovery is worse and more chances of getting infection after. Its surgery and i much rather not have.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want a c-section....I've seen way to many of them first hand and have seen way to many young healthy women have horrible complications because of them. I also know that the majority of them are totally unecesary because practitioners don't want to "deal" with a loaboring woman and just want to get their day over and done with.........

It is major surgery and with major surgery come numerous amounts of potential complications.

This being said, I do know that their are instances in which a "true" medical emergency and condition warrants a c-section and that in certain circumstances it is inevitable...But I know first hand what warrants a section or not..........

The percentage of women needing a c-section in my practice is 5% as opposed to the current national rate of approximately 45-55%. THey have also only had to do an episiotomy 1 x in teh 20 years of practice................and this is with women delivering babies anywhere from 6lbs all teh way up to 11 lbs.............

I'm not worried about having an unecessary section pushed on me.

I am absolutely PETRIFIED of vaginal birth...

That said, if I have enough drugs-- I can probably do it-- as long as there is no tearing, etc.

I honestly, would prefer a c-section, if the recovery wasn't so bad.

I wouldn't be lying if I said I hadn't prayed for some medical condition that would necessitate a c-section. I am just really scared.

I'm with you! I prefer a c-section BUT I will not be asking for one! Whatever happens happens!!

I absolutely do not want a c-section. I had one with my daughter & (for me) it was an awful experiece. I am really hoping with all my heart for a VBAC this time.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I did not want one - it would be the last resort. I am happy I didn't need one. The doctor suggested at one point and I said please wait a little longer since the baby or myself were doing perfectly fine.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

This seems to be a sensitive topic on this board. lol
I WANT a csection and I wouldn't have it another way. I asked for one and my dr. agreed. This is one of the few countries that do not let women choose how they deliver their child!
It's MY body adn I have the right to choose what I want to do with it.
No one has to understand why I want one and what my reasons are and that's it! Chat Icon

I want what will be best for my baby. If that means a c-section, I'm fine with that.

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I wanted a Section from the day I got my BFP. Toward the end of pregnancy I figured I would try naturally bc it's supposed to be better for baby. at DC's last growth sono , it seemed DC would be 8 pounds at birth. I decided to go with the C section. he came 2 weeks early, and weighed just under 6 lbs. the sono was totally off, but I was happy bc I was able to have the c section. best decision for me, I did not want to push baby out.

Or are you like me who only wants one if it is ABSOLUTELY necessary!

I DID NOT want a c-section.. only if it was absolutely necessary. Unfortunately for me DS was transverse and I ended up needing a c-section. Can't say I didn;t try though, I pushed for 4 hours, even had someone's arm in there trying to turn DS while I was pushing!

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

This is my second child, and my first was a perfect vaginal delivery (relatively short labor, episiotomy but didn't bother me at all!) and as of two weeks ago, the baby was in a breech position...I am devastated since I had a great experience the first time and wanted to try to repeat that! I am also stressing about the fact that some doctors suggest limits on c-sections and this is only our second and we know that we want 4, maybe more, children! I just keep hoping that my baby will turn into position and I will be able to go vaginally again!

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I personally believe that Mother Nature will take its course and the baby will come out when its good and ready

The ONLY way I would go for a c-sec is if I or the baby was in distress- and even then I wouldnt really want it, ya know?

Its surgery and in my opinion, not the way we were intended to give birth. It also makes for a longer recovery time with not being able to do as much when you go home.

My hope is that when I go into labor, I will stay at home as long as possible - take a bath, walk around, keep entertained as much as possible with the pain- then at the hospital continue to do the same. I am terrified of being essentially "strapped" to my bed by wires and cords and not able to help progress the labor along by moving.

That being said- I have never felt a contraction or been in labor so who knows but as for c-sec - only if absolutely necessary!

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I actually wanted one if my baby was measuring big. My concern was if he was big and we were going to have problems I want to know in advance, make any necessary arrangements and get it done rather then go through hours of pushing and then get told oh boy we need to do a c-section stat.

I had gone for a growth sono on August 23 and baby was measuring well but my amniotic fluids were very low. My doctor told me I would be admitted, put on fluids to get my levels up and also given cividel (sp) in the event I do need to be induced at least that has been started. They would do another sono in the morning to see how my fluids were and we'd talk more about my options at that time.

The next morning my fluids did not go up enough and I had to be induced. So they started me on the Pitocen (sp) and started me on some IV's. The doctor kept checking on me for dialation and I was not dialating. When the contractions started I thought I was going to die. They were coming 2 - 3 minutes apart. I was not even 1 cm dialated. The baby started having problems with each contraction. The doctor had to give me oxygen and I had to get the epi. Then we just waited for me to dialate. As the day progressed I didnt. I never dialated and then I started running a fever. I was also puking all day. The baby was starting to get distressed and was moving backwards. At 7pm the doctor told me that I needed a c-section. I said ok do whatever you have to do for a safe delivery to bring this little guy into the world. At 9:30 I was wheeled into the OR and at 9:39 he was brought into the world.

I dont feel cheated or have any regrets. I wanted what was safe and best for both me and him. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to Anyone else notice....

I begged my doctor for one! After 30 hours of labor they finally gave in to the c-section when they realized DD wasn't coming out on her own.

I am not upset about it and am glad now that next time I can have a scheduled one instead of being tortured again. Chat Icon
