Classical Music, Reading etc
According to my 20 week update, it says I should be reading to the baby and playing classic music for him/her.
I am happy to do this stuff and I have been trying to follow the advice suggested on these websites thus far in the pregnancy.
My question is do you think this will really make a difference for the baby?
Are you guys doing this or have you done this?

Re: Classical Music, Reading etc
I think it is great exposure for the little one in utero....it gives them different tings to listen to rather that listening to outside noises and everyday chit chat.....
An interesting thing...My sister played classical baby lullabies every night before going to sleep and when my nephew was born when he got fussy she would put the music on and he would calm down right away.....
We have 1 book that we read to our little one, my MIL got it for us it is " Oh baby, the places you'll go a book to be read in utero" it is a Dr. Seuss book.
I listened to classicla music before I was pregnant when I'm relaxing and continue to do so........

I listened to music, classical when I was PG with Andrew. He came out loving music and 2 yrs later he sings and sings all day long. I think it is a great thing to do.

Re: Classical Music, Reading etc
nope, not doing it....
I figure I'm an academic.... Scone is in the lab all day long! he hears long winded scientific conversations at work AND home (DH is also a scientist). We also have many political, philosophical, and sociological conversations on a daily to weekly basis.
My personal attitude is that it isn't necessary to blast Scone's brain with classical music in utero... it's much MORE important to take him to museums and let him play in the yard and discover nature, and teach him his and other cultures starting in toddlerhood... and going on up to adulthood
my parents started the museum and cultural vacation trips when I was 2... so that's my intent with scone!

Re: Classical Music, Reading etc
My baby gets many hours of music when I'm in the car putting on personal concerts for him/her everyday(I work out of my car) she/he will come out screetching..."girls....girls just wanna have fu-un"...or "and another bites, another one bites, another one the du-ust..pum, pum, pum..." No matter what you're baby will be ok with or without the classical music...just make sure you are happy, singing and laughing most of the time and your little one will feel your joy
