Possibly silly ? about crib bedding

I'm starting to look at baby items for registry and noticed something I found odd. Why do all crib bedding sets come with a comforter? You're not supposed to ever use them right? TIA!

You could use it for a wall decoration.

Also a lot of cribs turn into toddler beds and you could use the comforter then.

Mine is DS' crib now. He loves itChat Icon Chat Icon

Yeah, I know... I've been saying how its really kind of silly to have all the bedding that comes in the set - you're not supposed to use the comforter or the bumpers... its all just for show!

Re: Possibly silly ? about crib bedding

I'm thinking of not getting one at all. I'm getting my bedding from PBK and they sell everything separately. My baby bargain books says they are a waste of money, and to just get a nice blanket for when the baby gets a little older.

Like someone said above, you could use it for a toddler bed though.

Yeah, I'm starting to think a whole crib bedding set is one of those things I always thought I needed, but I may need to reconsider. Thanks ladies!!!

Bumpers are a personal choice, we never took them out of DS' crib.

Most sets come withthe comforter. I won't be using one........

I'm actually having a custom bumper and skirt made for the crib, this way I don't even need to get the comforter..

I am getting mine from PB kids also, and not getting a comforter. I figure it's a waste, in fact, the nursery sheets there don't even offer a matching comforter.

Re: Possibly silly ? about crib bedding

I was told by a friend that the sets are a huge waste of money for that very reason. She said if she'd realized that she'd just have gotten sheets and stuff...

It's hard to not want to get a set anyway, because they are sooooo CUTE!

Re: Possibly silly ? about crib bedding

Aside from the bumper (which I am keeping in the crib for a while) and the sheet and comforter which will be used down the road getting the whole bagged set was kind of a waste for me. I ended up not using the valances that came with it because it didn't work with my windows AND I have no need for the diaper stacker either. I will get use out of the above mentioned stuff but I spent a lot of money and to not use everything is a little annoying. At least it gave me the design inspiration for the room and with all the accessories that go with the set that I got at my shower the nursery came out adorable!! Chat Icon
