thanks everyone for your insight, etc.

I guess the thing is, that I keep setting these milestones in my head, oh-- by then I will look like this, or by then I will feel the baby, by then I can go maternity shopping, by then I will feel more secure about everything and stop worrying, etc. But, then I have to keep pushing back that milestone because I am not experiencing the things that I thought I would feel.

I actually think I MIGHT have felt the baby last night when I was in bed reading.... It's the same feelings that I have been having and suspecting were the baby, just a bit stronger. Almost like little hands kneading at me from the inside. I don't know what else I could chalk that up to? Chat Icon

When I feel these things, it does literally feel like something is moving inside of me-- maybe I have just in denial?? Maybe I should talk to a therapist!!Chat Icon

I think you should stop setting physical milestones (I'm sure easier said than done) - everyone's pregnancy is different, and would venture to guess you are setting these milestones based on what you have heard/seen/read about other people's pregancies. There IS a miracle growing inside of you. When is your level II? Maybe after you see your little one it will make you feel like this is actually happening.

When I first knew for sure I was feeling the babies move - i had the same thought - what else could it be? And I feel them the most when I am relaxing or laying down.

I am very anxious for my level II-- as I am for all my appts, but i have not seen the baby since my 12 week. Anyway, my appt is on the 23rd, and I'll be almost 22 weeks then. So, another week and a half I guess I need to wait!

You are right-- I am setting these milestones based on hearsay. I need to just focus on the fact that everyone is different... I gotta just chill out-- which is NOT one of my strongest assets, can you tell? Chat Icon

1.) If you look at my profile I have an album of my pg's and with my son I didn't really look pg at all at 20 weeks so I understand your frustration. I didn't pop until 25 weeks (I was looking at pictures today).

2 &3) They will never fit the same unless you get seven jeans (they fit the same as regular sevens). I also think though, once you start to show more and really pop things will fit better for you. I ha the best luck at Gap and their return policy is 90 days. I agree that Mimi and motherhood is ridiculous for their return policy. I never really bought anything there because of it.

Also, I gained 45lbs with #1. I was up about 26lbs by 28 weeks!

Same here w/PG #1. Although I did not feel disconnected from it, I did feel like only DH & I were "into" it b/c I did not really look PG until 18 - 20 weeks or so, ad I popped at 24 weeks. I just looked like I was getting chunky.

The clothes...this time I love how they fit. Last time I did not love them until 7 or 8 mos. I did love the skinny jeans that Gap had last time b/c they fit the legs and butt really well, but other than that I felt like everything was a potato sack. I did not love Motherhood last time (this time they are my BFF since I never lost the weight from #1), and I stayed away from Mimi b/c their return policy is awful. Old Navy is pretty good for casual clothes as well, and the price is good for something you will only wear a little bit.

Re: I am really starting to develop a complex...

you'll feel pregnant very soon, whether you show or not, becuase your little bean will soon be kicking and reminding you s/he's in there on a regular basis!

(consider yourself lucky that you're showing late, becuase I suspect you will have less backpain and will receive fewer harsh stares later on... now that I'm full term, I sometimes get disapproving stares from people (usually older). I don't know why (maybe they think I should stay home and be barefoot? Chat Icon) At any rate, for any negative (no cute little belly now) there's a silver lining (cute belly later, when the rest of us look like beached whales)

As for the pants, well, the length fits great for me (I'm 5'9") but I'm not generally a fussy person with pants fit. I'm an advocate for ann taylor maternity, but I must warn you, they run large, and since you're thin (I'm not!), you likely will need at least 1-2 sizes smaller. I can garantee though that they will fit length wise......

Ann Taylors return policy is much more lenient than motherhood/mimi's......

Point #1
It's normal not to show until pretty far along in your first PG especially if you started off thin. I didnt REALLY show until like 6 mos either so try not to worry!

Point #2
I think most make your butt look dumpy so I'd maybe invest in a good pair of jeans (citizens, sevens...)

Point #3
I shopped mostly at the Gap for this reason. I also liked the quality and the way their clothes fit the best. I liked their underbelly pants and they fit me from when I was smaller (like you) right on through the end.

Re: I am really starting to develop a complex...

ok, the reason you dont look pregnant is because the skinnier you are when you GET pregnant, the longer it takes for your belly to pop

I WISH I HAD THAT PROBLEM
You are BLESSED - Be GRATEFUL!!!!!
as someone that has always struggled to keep my weight down, i am NOT embracing my belly

I love my baby, but cannot WAIT to wear regular clothes again

Re: I am really starting to develop a complex...

im a few days behind you and just started showing..

i also stopped wearing flowing shirts and dresses (b/c im not buying anymore) and wearing my pre-pregnancy shirts while i still can..

i totally understand what you mean... it annoyed me when people said you arent even showing and you know your body and it has changed...

its your first baby, and so many people say you dont show until 5-6 months.. and by your pics, so really fit, so i would say thats why you havent popped yet.... you will!!!!!

hope you dont feel too down about itChat Icon

Re: I am really starting to develop a complex...

I have a small belly at 15 Weeks, but I haven't gained weight anywhere else. You can't really tell I'm PG either unless I wear certain clothes. You probably just have strong stomach muscles, so it is taking you longer to pop.

I went shopping for maternity jeans yesterday at Mimi. I tried on expensive jeans (Mavi), and they looked like regular jeans just with a belly panel. I didn't buy them because the length was too long. (I'm short). I wound up buying Mimi maternity jeans, which fit well also. Yes, they where expensive, but I think they fit better then say Motherhood jeans. I'm still waiting for my gap jeans to come. I know Mimi's return policy sucks, but since my sister had three kids, I was used to the maternity stores policy's. I just make sure I try it on, before I leave the store.
Give it a few more Weeks, I'm sure you will pop. Also , you will feel much better after your next doctors appointment.
