Colin Michael 8/25/08
Here is the story of how Colin entered the world. I was a week late at this point and doctor wanted to induce after the weekend so I was hoping something would happen.
On Saturday I was having cramps all day. Then Saturday night the bloody show appeared and on Sunday morning my mucus plug popped. All day Sunday I had slight cramping and then around 10 pm they felt a little different. I began timing them and they were 5 minutes apart and I began to vomit with each bad contraction. Then around 5 am I had enough and got ready to go to the hospital. We arrived at Winthrop about 6 am and after being examined I was 3-4 centimeters. Yippee progress. I was admitted to the hospital and then the contractions seem to be not as consistent or any stronger. So they started me on pitocin. Then I said I will take the epidural. Then at about 5 pm I was still only 6 centimeters and the doctor was concerned I wasn’t progressing. They increased the pitocin at this point and I said to the doctor can you wait an hour and see what happens. By 6:30 I was 9 centimeters and then by 7 I was 10. Time to push. I was relieved we didn’t need a c-section and that I was going to get this done. The doctor turned off the epidural so I could feel when it was time to push and experience the contractions. Then I pushed for about an hour and half and Colin Michael made his entrance into the world on 8/25/08 9:39pm at 7lbs 10oz. (not the 9lbs the doctor said he might be?) During the pushing I began to tear a little so the doctor did a slight incision to prevent any further damage. We are doing very well adjusting to life.
The nurses at Winthrop were fabulous. It was a great experience.

Wow! Sounds like you had a great L&D! Congratulations!!!!
You, me, and headoverheels all had 7 lb 10 oz babies
