did you have drinking at your shower?

my mom booked my shower but didnt finalize the specifics... and asked if i wanted wine included on tables or included in the package...the shower is from 1-5 pm on a saturday..

we have a punch included and just didnt know what most baby showers are like... we dont want to look cheap and not have it, but also dont want it to be a drinking fest at 1pm..

please tell me what you had or what most baby showers you've been to were like.. THANKS!!!

well, poles don't even know what a shower IS (neither does my german family, but they're still all over there)

when DH's family comes over, you better have booze... we had lots of wine and vodka, and polish beer for the boys outside.

It was reported to me that everyone was spiking their soda with the vodka and drinking the wine.

my shower ran from about 2-7pm

At most that I've attended, as well as my own, most guests would order a drink "a la carte". To be honest just about every shower has such a low consumption rate (between the pregnant girls, the mommies of babies/toddlers and those who are driving) that "a la carte" is the way to go, its absolutely not cheap. I think the bottle of wine on the table is nice, but they'll probably end up being unused!! I'd just ask the restaurant if people can order drinks as needed, that would work out cheaper, especially on a Sunday afternoon?

I am not having a shower-- but just from a party planning perspective, see if you can do a wine by consumption package.

This way, you only pay for what is consumed, and your guests have the option for a glass during lunch.

We did a guys/girls party and had it in my back yard with a caterer. We did wine on every table and then beer. Torchure for me but everyone had a great time.

We had champagne punch, mimosas, and bloody mary drinks included. We had beer and liquor available and just ran a tab.

It was a Sunday brunch shower.

I think at mine Red & White wine was on the tables but if you wanted s0mething else you got it yourself at the bar

The only alcohol at my shower was a champagne punch. It was on Saturday from 12-4

At my sprinkle, we're having house wine on the table and they guys will be hanging by the bar, so they can have whatever they want over there.

the showers I've been to served champagne punch, and the guests can order drinks a la cart.

I plan to do the same, as I'd like a brunch shower.

We always have alcohol, but our families are alchys!

I think most showers I've been to have had an open type bar...and less have had only wine. I've never been to one where there was no alcohol at all.

We will be having alcohol at my shower--mostly because it's Jack and Jill and the guys will need something to do. I actually think they'll be playing flipcup in the backyard

It doesn't bother me at all, I was never much of a drinker to begin with

We had a champagne punch and my mom had them run a bar tab. I think 2 or 3 people had a glass of wine and that was about it. Mine was on a Saturday afternoon as well.

I have no idea about my baby shower, since it's next week. however, at the showers I've been to, it's usually just a champagne punch and guests can order drinks a la carte.

For all of the showers I have been to there has only been champagne punch. If the guest wanted something different, hey had to pay for it at the bar.

We are having sangrias at the table at my shower. Its a Portuguese resyaturant and they normally do it that way (Portuguese tradition)

We had our shower in our backyard so there was definitely alcohol. We had beer,wine and my DH made cocktails for anyone that requested one.

I think its a necessary item at a shower...I just know how I would be if I wasent offered any drinks at a shower. We are going to have a full bar.

We had alcohol at my shower but it was a jack and jill, we nedded to keep the boys busy
