How long does it take for your Dr. to call you back?
I called my doctor's office this morning at about 9:45 to ask about a strange pain that I've had for some time that seems to be getting worse. It woke me up, and kept me up last night and so I thought it was time to find out what the heck is going on.
I still haven't heard back from her. I'm starting to get a little annoyed. Is it normal to take this long to get a call back? I know it's not an emergency or anything but it's been almost 4 hours.

Generally, when I call a doc-- I don't expect a call back til at least after 3 or 4.
If you are really concerned, call again.

My doctor usually calls back pretty quickly unless she is of course on call and delivering, or if it's her off day. For non-emergency questions, I always call the Nurse Practioner.

My Dr calls in between patients or if he is really busy or in surgery, a nurse will call me back.

If the pain is still concerning you, call them back & ask for a NP

depends what it's about. I usually call in the morning. Once I got a call back about an hour or two later (was having contractions at 28 weeks, had to go to the hospital). The other two times for random pains or concerns (nothing too emergent) they call back either after lunch or around 4-5 after office hours are over.

I usually try to talk to the nurse first and then if she thinks it is super important she will ask the dr and the dr will call me back, usually within a few hours
