How are our veggie gardeners doing?

The cucumber are coming out MASSIVELY now.

I only have 1 good yellow squash plant out of 6 or 7.

I have 2 good zucchini plants out of 4 or 6.

At least I am not super loaded with veggies and waste veggies.

Our eggplants are doing well too.

I don't know about the watermelon. I planted them late from seeds and nothing yet.

Re: How are our veggie gardeners doing?

Cuccs are starting tomultiple but we did go to the farmers market for more since Joe is making Kosher dill pickles and needed more then we had...Tomatoes are getting very close..peppers are still about 1-2wks away and hot pepers are not doing so well..Onions are hit or miss but not to bad. We planted about 2wks late so we're a bit behind. Next year we're planting sweet corn, letuce, more peppers and making the garden larger. I think we have to much for the size of our garden and that's why the peppers are not doing as well.

Really well!! Herbs and lettuces are still doing great. My cucs are fantastic...Some of peppers (banana and jalapeno) have been ready for a bit and by this weekend I will have my bells. My eggplants are coming along. I had a little trouble with bottom rot on some of my plum tomatoes but that seems to have fixed itself and all my other tomatoes are already starting to be good to go!Chat Icon

AWFUL! What the heatwave didn't kill (that and my sprinkler head breaking over there) - the rabbits ate :( I would see little red strawberries - the next day they were gone! Lettuce, Peppers gone...Chat Icon Next year I have to put up some kind of netting - last year was a great year - they didn't touch anything.

Heat wave killed half of my tomatoes, cucumber, pumpkins, (watermelon never made it)

I have corn, tomatoes and eggplants left - eggplants are doing great - and I love them - so that's good!

sophie - I have read that there are male and female watermelons and you need one of each to get a fruit

Re: How are our veggie gardeners doing?

I have container garden on my back porch...

my tomatoes are doing pretty good- about 3 or 4 small ones getting red every day- they are delish

My herbs are AWESOME.. my cilantro bolted fast and quick- so I actually bought potted cilantro at stop & shop and it was the slow bolt variety and it's doing very well.

I have 3 parsley plants- one got taken out by a HUGE catepillar but it's starting to come back

My jalapeno pepper plan yielded about 25 already- still going strong.

I have a TON of basil- it's insane.

Sage & Rosemary also doing great.

I'm already thinking about what I can do next year- will add cukes, zukes, and lettuce!

Re: How are our veggie gardeners doing?

We have been eating eggplant, tomatoes and peppers.
Tomatoes are doing well...eating the cherries and have gotten a few plum tomatoes.
Peppers and eggplants are doing great...although one pepper plant just fell over.
Cukes not so hot...the plants are growing but haven't gotten any cukes...they start, but don't grow.
Snap peas died.
I pulled the Broccoli Rabe and lettuce out cuz it started to bolt and planted radish and spinach seeds which are coming up now.

All the herbs are doing great! I'm going to have to make a boatload of Pesto soon and cut down the Basil.
Pesto Pasta Salad and Mojitos to use the mint up!!Chat Icon

Re: How are our veggie gardeners doing?

do you pick the cracked/split ones before they are totally red or let them continue to ripen on the vine?
