Anyone use General Utilities for oil?

I have been using them through USA Heat where I am supposed to get oil for $.10-.20 cheaper than the going rate but I am not 100% happy with them. I find them to be $$$. I haven't even called them to find out what they are quoting now that my contract is ready to be renewed.

Anyone else find any good quotes? Slomins? Petro?

We just got rid of General for oil because they tried to charge us over $100 more for our contract this year than last year. Plus, they are not locking in rates until at least Aug./Sept.. We went with Meenan on a recommendation from a friend.

We are in the EXACT same situation as you are. We have been using General through USA Heat for the past two years. I never felt that we got the best price either. The only good thing about HeatUSA is the $25 fee that gives you the service contract for your burner. This year I think we are going to dump them, get a separate contract for the burner, try COD for oil and possibly buy a pellet stove insert this summer.

Me too - See my post. General is my company. I like them though. When I called, they said $4.59 a gallon with a budget.

Nice of them to wait till my contract was up to deliver my oil. Bastards

They were going to do the same thing to us. Our contract expired in May and we were scheduled for our next delivery in June. That's why you need to keep on top of when your contract expires. They aren't going to tell you these things. That's how they make their money.

I wouldnt use them..I did for years with no problem but in the past few years things have definitely changed..

When I called Heat USA and was told that General was the company they used I told them I wanted to use a different company. (It says on their site that you can request a different company) Several phone calls later they basically refused to get back to me...My thinking is that they only have General on the Island..How can they be saving us money when they only use one company??? How competitive is that???

Side Note: DH is a teacher and we're suppose to get a deal through the union. He had a couple of his collegues call regarding the General thing and they requested different companies as well...same thing happened with them.

Re: Anyone use General Utilities for oil?

We HAD General through Heat USA as well and HATED them. When I complained to Heat USA they said they were thinking of gettin another vendor, guess it was a big lie. We switched to SLomins in February and locked in at a price for a year with a service contract
