I'm really upset (daycare related) LONG

So I'm going back to work in Sept. and I'm very fortunate to have various family members watching dd. My dad was willing to watch dd 5 days a week. Realizing that this would be WAY too much for him, I asked my sister's mil, who is retired and amazing with kids, to watch dd 2 maybe 3 days a week. Of course dad was highly offended by this but has slowly gotten over it.
So he jokes about how he's doing it for free but we can buy him nice gifts blah blah blah. I just let it roll off my back because let's face it...he's doing it for free!
So I've been taking dd over to sis's mil house so baby can get to know her but I don't even tell my dad (we live in the apartment here) because as I mentioned it's a touchy subject with him. So I went there on Wed., gave her the school calendar and asked her if her days could be Mon. and Thurs. (Mind you, I've asked dad on numerous occasions what days he would prefer and he said he didn't have a preference.) So today we're all together for a bbq and my dad says, oh so meg still has to give us our days. Sis's mil innocently says, "I thought she already did that." Dads whole face changed, and I immediatley knew he was ****** because I didn't go over his days yet. He says, "well she didn't tell me." I say something along the lines of, "I thought I told you , but maybe I just told mom instead." So a few minutes later my sister asks, "dad, is it okay if kids and i come swimming in the pool this week?" Dad says, "yeah, of course, or you could just tell mom, instead and she won't tell me." (of course this was an obvious dig at me). I kind of explode and say something along the lines of...I asked you numerous occasions. I really don't need this stress. If you can't do those days, we'll make alternate arrangements. I didn't realize your schedule is so busy (he's been retired for 5 years and all he does is complain about how bored he is)." I then reiterated that I really don't need to stress over this. He should have specified what days he wanted when I asked. This would have never happened if he didn't make negative comments everytime I went over there to visit. I could have been honest on Wed. and said I went to her house for a visit with dd and we went over the school calendar and days. Now I don't even want the favor from him! Chat Icon
Sorry to rant!

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Family really has a way of causing unnecassary stress. I use family for p/t daycare as well and my only advice is to kinda get used it. Even though family daycare might not cost $$, there is still a price to pay.
