Called the Babies R Us here in CA and they are NOT taking them back without a reciept and within 90 days. She claims CA law is much different than NY.Chat Icon Chat Icon

I guess I will still hold on to them in case of a recall.

Re: Dr. Brown's Update - Babies R' Us

My mom just went to the store in Westbury. She was able to exchange them, but they would only give her the Dr. Brown's BPA free bottles (not glass). But, they took them out of the boxes in front of her (I guess so that we can't exchange them).

Hope this helps someone!

I went to Sayville yesterday (6/2) and I was able to exchange them for born free. They would only take back with all the parts. They told me how much it came to be and then I got replacements.

There was a woman in front of me who brought back Dr. Borwn's and they said they were only exchanging and that people who got store credit, got it b/c they couldn't keep BPA Free on the shelves - now that they can, it has to be exchanged. But FYI, BBB takes back anything for credit without a receipt as long as it's also sold there.

That woman actually fought hard enough to ge the credit. I guess I could have, but DS will still be on bottles for a few more months and I'll have them in case there is a #3.

not sure if you want to take a drive, but all of my friends in San Diego were able to take them back for store credit. They actually told me before I heard that NY was doing it.

Re: Dr. Brown's Update - Babies R' Us

I'm getting so frustrated...I've been getting all my bottles together (from Nanny/grandma) & call Sayville & Westbury today & both people told me they are only accepting them back in a box/all parts and/or off registry in past 90 days.

Can someone try calling now & see what they say?

I don't want to make the trip if its going to be a waste of time...this is such BS....

Has anyone heard from Dr. Browns?

ETA: I just emailed Handi-craft, I'll let you know their response.

I was in Sayville today (not to do a Dr.Browns exchange) but asked what their policy is regarding them- The girl I spoke to said- Off registry or w/ a receipt including boxes w/in last 90 days...I had my 2 year old with me and she said "how long ago was your registry and I pointed to him and I said"he still uses a bottle"...She said if I wanted to I could speak to a manager and most likely they would let me EX for other bottles only (which would be fine because we are expecting #2)- So basically what I got out of it is- If you make a big enough stink- they will let you EX for more bottles- which she said they are out of today but getting a news shipment tomorrow...Ia sked if there was going to be a formal recall and she said "No- because it states on the boxes not to microwave" and I said "but I though the D/W also releases the BPA " and she said that management said microwaving only Chat Icon ...I think I'll find a more reliable source than BRU management !Chat Icon

I emailed Handi craft as well as bru..

Here is my response from BRU:

Dear E:

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We value
all your feedback, positive and negative, as it helps us to understand
how our guests feel and gives us an opportunity to evaluate any
possible issues. Hearing from you has helped us to do just that. Your
comments are important to us, and we have forwarded them to our Corporate
Office where they will be reviewed. Again, we appreciate your feedback,
and look forward to serving you again in the future!

Ms. E, these bottles have not been recalled. They are within
FDA safety guidelines. We are not officially taking these products back.
Some stores are and some are not. It is a decision made by individual stores. I do understand your frustration for the lack of continuity.

I apologize for any inconvenience this causes you.

If you have other questions, Ms. E, please call 1-800-869-7787.

Sincerely,

Toys "R" Us Guest Relations Team

Re: Dr. Brown's Update - Babies R' Us

Was there (Sayville) yesterday and called beforehand - at 1st they said only on registry and withing 90 days with a receipt. I said why would I save a receipt for used bottles?????? The manager said I could bring them in and get credit to buy new bottles. I did that and plan on returning these new bottles (now that I have a receipt) and getting store credit.Chat Icon

Re: Dr. Brown's Update - Babies R' Us

I went to westbury yesterday and they said they would only take them back in original packaging - of all the freaking packaging I kept (and I kept every box from all the big stuff and the boppy) the bottles are the one I didn't keep... Oh well, its only 1 set of bottles - $13...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Dr. Brown's Update - Babies R' Us

I went yesterday to Sayville (6/3). They were willing to exchange them without boxes or receipts. Unfortunately, they do not yet make what I want. I was hoping for BPA-free wide Dr. Browns botles. They only make standard and Sayville only had two of those anyway. I had to exchange for Born Free, which were more expensive, so I got fewer bottles. They did give me a receipt, so if DS doesn't like them I can return them. I didn't feel the need to mention to them that DS has not had a bottle in over a month! I'm probably just going to save them for my next.

Also, they were repeatedly telling me and other customers that were questioning why I was returning them that the bottles are only a problem if you put them in the microwave. I don't think that is true, but I wasn't getting into an argument at that point.

Re: Dr. Brown's Update - Babies R' Us

I emailed Dr. Browns & this was their reply to me.....(impt info at bottom re: getting 3 free bottles)

If your Dr. Brown’s bottle is made of plastic that is crystal clear and very hard, it is polycarbonate plastic. Polypropylene plastic is opaque and milky in appearance and not as hard to the touch.

All of the parts that come with our bottles are and have always been BPA free. The Cover/Cap, Nipple Collar, Travel Disk, and Reservoir Tube are made of polypropylene. The tan colored Insert is made of santoprene. The Nipple is made of silicone. Even though our bottles are packaged with all parts, you can use parts from your polycarbonate bottles as spare parts for BPA free bottles you purchase. The only exception is the 3.5 oz glass bottle which does not accommodate the reservoir tube from the 4 oz standard neck polycarbonate bottle.

We currently offer two types of BPA free bottles: polypropylene and glass. The glass bottles are available in 3.5 oz. and 7 oz. Standard Neck size. The polypropylene bottles are available in 8 oz. Standard Neck size. Both are available at Babies R Us and Toys R Us stores in the United States . Unfortunately, we are not able to sell our products directly to our customers. Also, we have plans to offer polypropylene Wide Neck and 4 oz. Standard Neck bottles in the future. If you check back with us in a month or so, we may know more about a launch date.

******For our customers who choose to purchase replacement Dr. Brown’s BPA Free Glass or Polypropylene bottles, we would like to offer some assistance. Please mail us the UPC barcodes from BPA Free packaging of three bottles and we will send three BPA Free bottles per household. Please include your name, mailing address and phone number. This offer is for a limited time only and may be discontinued at any time.
