no. I dont think I am going to unless they require you too. Everyoe I know has had their babies there. I was actually born there too! But I will let you know of the overall birth experience there!

I might. I have the option of Southside as well. So, I will be taking a tour of both. I personally don't like Good Sam. My sister gave birth there and I was so turned off by their maternity ward, so I'm not sure.

I had DD there. It was good, but I am going to Southside this time. I am having a repeat c-section and my tubes tied. I will be there for 5 days.
I didn't like all of the roomates I had over my stay at Good Sam. Not that they weren't nice, but I would like a little more privacy and my own bathroom and shower this time.
Also, Good Sam is a Catholic Hospital, and you can't get a tubal there.

No, they don't. Southside does. I did not hear bad things about Southside, they maternity ward if fairly new and that's why they have private rooms.

Since this is a repeat c-section, the Doctor schedules it in advance. It was scheduled when I was only a few months pregnant.
From what my practice told me, they prefer to deliver at Good Sam, but for repeat c-sections with tubal ligations, it has to be done at Southside.
Private rooms are by availability. They are $125 a day above what your insurance pays. For a v-birth, you pay when you come into the floor, for I think the lady said 2 nights. For the c-section, I will pay for 4 nights ($500)when I check in, if a room is available.
Don't get me wrong, the care at Good Sam was good, I just know what I am in store for this time around, and I want to be able to sleep and relax as much as possible before I go home to a pre-schooler with a new baby.

Good Sams private rooms are like the size of closets. My sister was in one. My roommates were nice but I just had a horrible experience with the care from nurses.

I was in a regular room for the first few hours b/c the private room wasnt ready yet and my roommate was very nice. I thought the nurses were great except for one and once I complained I didnt see anymore of her.

I will be delivering at Good Sam. my understanding is they offer a tour during the Lamaze class, which is $125!!! I thought that was pretty steep, but since its our first, and I really havent read any books, I figured we'd take it.
