When/What made you decide to TTC?

I am an utter newbie to this part of LIF, but I was curious as to what influenced you ladies to decide "Okay, throw out the BC and condoms, lets do it to it!" ?DH and I have been on the 2 year plan since our wedding (about 7 months)... whenever anyone asks us I always say "Oh probably in two years" though I can't envision a clear cut time where we'd be like "lets go!".

So basically, was it an age thing (i.e. by the time i'm xx years old) a financial thing (i.e. when we buy a house) or something more nebulous (i.e. DH scared of you stealing babies in the park because you oooh and ahh so much over them).

I have always loved babies!!!! But the kind I can return!! Those were my favorite!!

DH and I are Marines so we don't live near home with family and that put us on the 4 year plan (the one where we don't have babies until after we get out of the Marines and are finished with school). I've decided to get a Masters while I am still Active Duty and we've decided on where to live after the Marines Corps, we have really good insurance, we get time off to spend with baby after birth and we just bought our home in Septemeber. I have 10 more classes for my Undergrad to be complete and my Masters program doesn't start until 2010.

We want our baby to at least walk by the time we leave SC and move near family. That put us on the HURRY UP AND HAVE A BABY PLAN!!!!

I don't know exactly what it was but DH and I were not ready for a while. As of late things changed as we begin thinking further into our future (i.e. jobs, where we will be living etc) and we just decided to go for it.

You will both know when the time is right. Like I said not one thing in particular for us, it just sort of happened. Lucky for us it hit us both at the same time though!

Well we already have a daughter who will be 3 in August. We want her have a sibling while she's still young & mainly, we just want another baby. We got married in September & agreed to start trying after we were settled down from the wedding & moving excitement.

I turn 30 next week. I always thought I'd have kids before 30. Now I'm on the 2 kids before 35 (advanced maternal age) time line.

It's also the right time for us in our careers. My company has a good maternity leave policy and my husband will be finishing up residency. We've dated for over 5 years so we've had enough alone time.

Everything just seems to be in place to start TTC.

MY DH and I are pretty much in the same boat as you, but our two years was up in Feb. (we got married in Feb. 06)..we are finishing our master's this month and have really started talking about it and we really, really want to have kids, but I think we are nervous about how it will change our lives...we really hadn't had a break since we got married...we got married while starting our master's, bought an apartment...it seems like we are always taking on another "task" and we don't want having a baby to be another "task" but something that we will enjoy and be ready for as much as possible...does that make sense?

Dh and I always agreed that we wanted a big family. We have a 5 year old DS.

We wanted to wait till we were more settled to start trying for #2. When DS was born we weren't married and we were living with my parents.

Now we are married, have a great apartment, DS is the age we wanted him to be when we decided to TTC, and things just feel right. So we threw out the BC and said lets start BDing.

My son is already 3. I am 35 and don't want to wait much longer. I thought I would have always had my children closer in age but for financial reasons and other factors this kept us from trying sooner.

I was an "older" bride. I was almost 35 when we got married, and my husband had just turned 40. Time was/is most definately not on our side. In retrospect, given our current IF issues, we probably should have started on the HM, but we really wanted to wait a year to get pregnant. We waited 9 months, and here we are 21 months later and 2 years older and we are still trying.

Some tragedy in our family, SIL giving birth to our nephew, my age and the fact we are married for 5 years.....that about does it.

We always discussed having children, but the minute everyone but pressure on DH...he ran scared from it. I was very patient and let him come to the decision on his own

I had originally said 2 years also, but after only a few months I had severe baby fever. DH loves kids too so he was nervous, but fine with it. Now that I look back it was good we didn't wait 2 years because our 2 -year anniversary is comng up and we are going through infertility.

we got married in Dec 07.. and shortly after that we decided we really wanted to start a family.. DH is 34 and i am almost 30.. so it was the perfect time.. we just lost our baby a week ago ... so now we are hoping for a miracle soon

DH and I always knew we wanted kids someday. About 1 year ago, I started thinking more about kids. The plan was to possibly start TTC in the next 6 months-1 year. I didn't want to start TTC until we bought a house. I had genetic testing done and talked with my OB/GYN about TTC.

Over the past 6 months or so, I really started to get baby fever. I felt ready to start a family. We planned to buy a house by February, but we never found one we loved. We extended our lease for another 6 months. I didn't want to wait another 6 months to TTC, especially since I thought it would take a long time to get a BFP. I ended up getting pregnant the first month we tried. We still haven't found a house yet, but if worse comes to worse, we have plenty of room for a baby in our current place.

We were married 6 months, were in our early 30s and it seemed that if we waited for everything to be perfect we would wait forever. So, we went for it. While I was pregnant everything fell in place, we transferred to a new location (same firm), bought a great house, got the right car, were able to get really comfortable financially, etc. Now, we are thinking about trying for another and again things don't seem perfect but we figure it worked out last time and it will again so we are going to start TTC again in the summer.

I really appreciate all of you guys sharing some pretty personal stuff and there are parts that I am starting to relate to. While we're still putting it off, I think I may poke in here every now and again and start educating myself!

Lets see... I have had baby fever since I was 22 and always knew I would have two kids before I turned 30 with my first at 27. Funny how life doesn't follow your plan. Me and DH got married last summer and being that we were both in our 30's knew we needed to start right away.

I have always loved babies and children. But DH and I have been married almost 2 years and I will be 30 next year. He is 35 and we didn't want to wait any longer. We have our house and are pretty used to that now as well. We are both ready! We see babies when we are out and about and can't wait until that is us.
