I would suggest that for you too. Have you done analysis to find out what happened? If your Dr doesn't suggest it, YOU should. I am in SC but I am seeing a high risk specialist because of various things(IVF, multiples, blood disorder, immune issues) Chat Icon

all i know is that they took blood from me right when i got to the hospital.. they didnt tell me anything as far as what happened or what tests they did..
so if i he doesnt say anything about a Peri , or high risk.. then im going to ask him about going to one. ill tell him i WANT one..Chat Icon

I hate to ask you this - but did they do any tests on the baby? They should have, right?

I really think you need to call your Dr and DEMAND to know what happend, what protocol was taken to see why this happend!

My Dr is also a Perinatologist, but I live in Staten Island so I doubt her info would be any help Chat Icon

I agree with Stayandjohn - you should call your dr. and demand some answers. I am no expert but I think genetic testing should have been done or at least offered to you. Chat Icon

Re: anyone here see a Perinatologist??

I did see one briefly at Madonna perinatal when I was pregnant with DD. They saw a spot on her heart during my level II & needed to investigate further so they sent me to a perinatologist. I really wasn't a fan of Madonna. I always sat in the waiting room for quite a while.

I think it's probably a good idea for you to ask about seeing one. If nothing else, at least you will be closely monitored which will give oyu peace of mind. I also agree with the PP who said that you should demand to know what happened. I really hope they did testing since it was a second trimester loss.

Re: anyone here see a Perinatologist??

I'm pretty sure it's standard procedure for them to do at least genetic testing on the baby. I would call the Dr and find out before Monday just in case.

Ive seen both the Perinatologists at LIJ and North Shore Manhassat..Both groups were wonderful. Ive had difficult pregnancies with circumstances some what the same as yours..only I lost a set of twins at 24 weeks.

I went on to have 4 more children, including another set of twins. FM me any time if you'd like..Chat Icon

Re: anyone here see a Perinatologist??

After loosing our baby, I went back to our normal OB, however, I am having the Level II at the Perinatologist's office so that if they pick anything up, it will have been the best sonogram done. This is also because that afp test came back funky.

Dr. Ogburn at Stonybrook is one of the nicest doctor's i've met, he spent an hour with us (when I didn't have an appointment until the day before) discussing our options for our son.

Call the hospital, on your release papers, there should have been a number for you to call if you have any questions....perhaps you can speak to the doctor who took care of you. They should be able to look in your records to see if your husband signed anything for genetic testing to be done.
