Question about LH Surge

So, for my last two cycles-- my LH surge has lasted for only about 12 hours-- I assume, based on when I test.

The first cycle that I started using the digital OPK, and was able to detect how long my LH surge lasted-- it was more like 36 hours.

I am a little confused-- can the length of your surge differ from cycle to cycle.

I got a positive OPK yesterday AM, but a negative digital OPK. Then at about 6 PM, I got my smiley. This AM, if I was still having my surge, I should have gotten my smiley again-- but it was negative. Chat Icon

Well, I am seeing the RE tomorrow-- so, I guess I can ask them.

Re: Question about LH Surge

I know you've mentioned that testing the the morning works for you, but the reason it is recommended that you test in the afternoon is because LH is synthesized in your body in the morning so it may not show up in your urine until the afternoon.

I'd test again this afternoon too just to be sure.

As for your original question, I'm really not sure!

I think that theory makes sense, if you are trying to detect your initial surge/first day of LH surge-- BUT, if you are in the midst of your LH surge, it doesn't make sense that it will decrease, then rise again. Chat Icon I keep testing to get a sense of which day is my O day.

In the past, I have gotten my smiley at night, and then still got one the next morning with FMU. OR, I have even not gotten one at night, but then had it the next morning with FMU. So it will detect it of it's there.

ETA-- I am still going to test when I get home from work just to see what the deal is.
