anyone elses dc cry EVERY time they get their face wiped after a meal? ds is almost 1 and he cries so hard when i gently wipe his face after he eats. it's such a battle. is this a phase or just ds?
when will it end?!?!?!

HATES IT!!!! She sees me coming with the towel and starts crying and waving her arms/hands in front to block.
Now I just take her over to the sink and have started teaching her to wash her hands in the sink and then I just splash a bunch of water in her face and wipe then....it seems to be a bit better

yes and then when they dont cry anymore, they try to bite it and don't let go.
I make a game of it, we do "carwash" and i move the wipe or washcloth back and forth on their faces, while they're laughing i get them clean.

DD is 8 months and usually fights it and complains/whines/yells but doesn't actually cry. I started making a game out of it and singing a song and if I can keep her entertained/distracted then she stays happy.

Yes, my DD is just over 1 year, and she has always HATED getting her face wiped. It used to be an ordeal, but now I sing a silly song from her music class, and changed the words to "wash wash washing dd's (nose, cheek, mouth, chin)" Since she likes the music and is learnign the parts of her face, she smiles and lets me do it.

thanks for all the repies~! at least now i know it isn't something i'm doing wrong.
i try to make funny noises and have started making ds make "indian" noises with my hand and his moouth which he likes but it's still an ordeal. i'll try the sink and see if that works better.

Yup DS did this until recently and DD does it too. It is so annoying. They never seem to cry when DH cleans their face, but then again their face still looks dirty after he cleans them.

I went through the same thing. DS has gotten better and he dont mind at all.
