Prenatal Vitamins HELp
I have trouble swallowing HUGE HORSE pills....Most vitamins are huge for me....does anyone else have this problem....and if so can you recommend you prenatal vitamins. Thank you!

My Dr wrote me a script for Prenate DHA... They are big and blue... BUT they are softgels and smelly like vanilla.. They go down sooo easy with water.. and I usually have a hard time swallowing pills....
Or you can do chewables....

I have OTC CVS brand prenatals. They're much smaller than the multivitamin I had been taking. I don't have any problems taking the prenatals.

Mine are very tiny. I have to take 2 though. But I am like you and can't deal with HUGE pills.
Mine are called: OneSource Prenatal. I get them at WalMart. If you need me to send you some I will be more than happy to pick some up and ship them to you. FM me if you'd like.
Picture me standing at WalMart shaking bottles to see which were smallest!

I would think you can. My doctor told me as long as I get the 400mg of folic acid I'll be fine. Folic acid is the key here.
Now once your PG, I would think you will need to go on a prenate but while you TTC the chewable should be fine (as long as you're getting the 400mg of FA)

They are taking 400 mcg.
400 MG is probably deadly.
1000mcg=1 MG
I take 4000mcg=4MG of folic acid a day. This is to prevent spina bifida/neural tube defects/anencephaly-but I had a baby with anencephaly. So speak to your doctor, they may just put you on extra folic acid to be safe.

Every doctor is different, but mine said I should start taking a regular multivitamin with folic acid at least 3 months before TTC. I started taking Women's One A Day about 9 months before TTC. Once I got a BFP, I switched over to prenatals.

I just bought 800mcg of folic acid. my friend who has a 2 year old told me i should take 800 and not 400. she took 2 pills of 400 a day. is that not right?

same here. My dr said you should be on them for at least 3 months before getting pg--- they drastically cut down on a lot of birth defects.

My OBGYN told my to take regular vitiamins plus folic acid, so I was using CENTRUM Chewables, then when I started going to the RE they wanted me on Prenatal Vitamins, so I told them I could swallow large pills so they gave me chewable prenatals, so they are out there....I also take 4MG of folic acid but those pills are small.

I don't think it hurts to start taking prenatals right away--it just replaces your multi vitamin.
