I totally agree.. only an amazing Mommy such as yourself would recognized that your DS needed help and because of that he is getting the services he needs

I'm so sorry Diane. He is going to be ok because you are an awesome mom and you are going to help him through this. You were smart enough to get him evaluated early and I know EI can do wonders.

Oh, I am really sorry to hear this! Did they talk about treatment at this point?
I did read recently that the outlook is MUCH better when a diagnosis is made early, so it's good that this happened and he has services available to him now. My friend's nephew has this, but his mother isn't all together, and he wasn't diagnosed until he was 10. My friend said he is doing much better with treatment though.
I am sorry--this isn't what you wanted to hear I am sure.

I can totally understand the devistation, as a mother I'd be feeling the same way.
But as a special ed teacher I want to reassure you that you are doing the right thing. He is young and Early Intervention makes a WORLD of difference.
I have a good friend (teacher also) whose son was diagnosed with Autism at 2 years. He didn't even say anything at that point, not even no, momma, dadda. Now, a year later, after being enrolled in a special school, he is talking up a storm and doing very well.
It will work out, really, as much as it's overwhelming now.

Now the hardest part is having my inlaws accept the fact that there is a problem....all they keep saying is he does not have a disability, he is just a slow learner.
There is nothing wrong with him and why cant you accept that...why are you trying to find something wrong with him....is what I get from them
