Baby Medicine Question
The pediatrican said to give Cadence a 1/4 teaspoon of Benadryl for a cold she has been having. Has anyone else done this??

With all the attention medicine for infants has been getting in the news lately, it's not something I would do personally. I know benadryl is not the same as typical cold medicine, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable with it. Maybe try saline drops and a humidifier?

Yea just some sneezing and runny nose with a cough... but she is eating and sleeping like normal with no fever

Sometimes just one small dose of an antihistamine can stop a process that might have continued for much longer. Benadryl is actually on some doctors' lists of things you should always have on hand, in case your child has a dangerous reaction to something. I would not give it without a doctor's orders but I would go right ahead once told to give it. Currently, we are trying to treat DS's excema without cortisone or an antihistamine, but we know that the possibility exists and if I cannot get it under control, I will want to stop any potential discomfort and I know that those meds will do it.
