Spinoff to Shoe Bronzing
I considered doing this, but then I thought, if my parents had done it for me, where would those shoes be today now that I am married and have a house? I wouldn't display them. I wouldn't go take them out of where every they are stored and feel all sentimental about them.
Same with the first curl or first tooth (which I was given holders for both of those for DDs).
What do you do with all of these sentimental things and how do you decide what WILL be sentimental to DCs 10, 20 years from now?
I'm in a major decluttering stage in my life right now so I'm trying to figure out what to keep and what not to for DDs! Any thoughts?

I have everything from when I was younger in a plastic tub and I am glad I have it all. I look back on it all from time to time.
I save everything so I am no help. But I will put it all into a plastic bin and store it all away in the attic.
I save all first items. Hair, newspaper from when he was born, his awards, first paycheck  , etc. And then his come home outfit, the blanket he was wrapped in at the hospital, etc.

I had my daughters shoes done in porcelain. She's 23 and I still have them displayed with her baby picture
The other things I saved were her coming home outfit, her christening outfit. 1st haircut, 1st tooth, hospital bracelet. Along with a lot of drawings and awards. I went through them a few yrs ago and tossed a lot, but kept meaningful ones and put them in a scrapbook.
I also saved her 1st teddy bear. I will give that to her when she has her 1st child.
Everything else, I'm keeping
I had a picture of my living room on my computer and I zoomed in to the shoes. Can you see them on the shelf?
The pictures hanging up to the left are now her and her husband!

Life is so hectic that sadly, I do forget to save certain things. I take note of them, try to write down milestones but it's by no means a complete account. I have one of those decorative photo boxes and that's where I put their first curl, baptism candle, etc. I just try to live in the moment, absorb the joy and if that means neglecting to note something or save sentimental items, so be it.
Before my boys were born I worked on a scrap book for each one. Do I ever think they'll display it in their houses? Probably not, but perhaps if they marry sensitive women, they would enjoy thumbing through it!

No picture. Can you try and repost it please? Ok maybe in a den or basement I would consider displaying them.
I did save all those things - coming home outfit, baptismal candles, newspaper from the day they were born, etc. I just think even in 5 years from now we are going to have SO much stuff.
I guess I'll keep it all now and decide in 10 years if there are things I should toss.

I'm not saving anything for display. I'm a little disorganized right now, but those sentimental things will be saved in a large tote kept in our house when we get one.
I think it might be fun for them to look into when they are older. And for their future SO's/children.

my mom saved all of my report cards ( and they are nothing to brag about) but its nice looking back on things. MY DH has nothing from his childhood years only 2 pics from when he was a baby. ANd that is all

My mother was upset I did not save his hair...but then I thought, how often did we ever open my envelope of hair and look at it?
