For those that have rosary beads
Do you have more than one set? Like one "formal" set of beads that stay home and one that always go with you. Did you pick them out yourself or were they a gift from someone.
Last but not least. If you have a very old set of roasary beads (the very inexpensive kind that kids make out of beads, have a string and the cross is white plastic), what is the proper way to dispose of them.

I have one set that I have at home. My mom gave them to me.
Sorrry I don't know the proper way to dispose of them. Call your church and ask them.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have my mom's all plastic set from when she was a kid. I love it, I like knowing we've both used it.
I also have a nicer set that was a gift that I don't really use. It's made out of dried rose petals and I'm afraid that I'll ruin the beads by handling them too much.
ETA: I believe that you would bring the old set you want to dispose of to your parish and they will handle it for you.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have two gorgeous rosary's. One was my great great grandmothers and I would never leave the house with it. Way too precious. And DH bought me a gorgeous rosary at the Vatican when we were in Italy on our honeymoon. But then I have a more "regular" set that is very plain that I take with me when needed.
I would definatley call the church to ask about "disposing" of them. Perhaps the church may take them as a donation?

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have two sets, but nothing really nice. I think i got one of them at communion, I think the church gave us as gifts.
I wanted my dd to have a really nice set, so for her baptism i order a set from Lenox.com with her birthstone in them. I had them blessed at her Baptism, the deacon kept admiring them.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I believe you can bring them to church and leave them in the back (where they keep all the bulletins and other paper announcements). My mom said people will just pick them up from there.

I have started doing that for baptisms and communisions. I found a site on the web that does it with swarovsi and on top of that you can pick what kind of cross you want as well as what patron saint medal you want to use. It makes it soo personal that I just adore it.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have a set of rosary beads that my grandmother got maybe 15 yrs. or so that were blessed by the pope. They have literally fallen apart by I keep them in my drawer. I have no idea what to do with them. They were in my car until they started to fall apart.
I have another set in one of my sons drawers. And, one in mine.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have three sets...I think you can donate the ones you don't want to the Church so they can give them to those who need but cannot afford rosaries.
I would love the name of the site where you have the rosaries custom made also.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have my Grandmother's - they're mother of peal - The only time they've left my Mom's house was for my Wedding, and my cousin carried them for her Wedding as well - They're still at my Mom's, I haven't taken them to my own house yet - I have a careless DH, I'm afraid they'll end up lost in something .........
NO idea how to 'dispose' of them, I'd just leave them at the Church, someone will take them. -

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have a few pairs - I think one is frm my First Holy Communion, another I got from donating to the Carmelite Friars, and an Irish Connemara marble set -not sure where the others came from (or why I have so many!)...
I could have sworn that I heard Holy items needed to be disposed of by burying them. of course donating to someone who could use it sounds much better.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have a few I guess but the one that means anything I was holding on our wedding day -- it was a last minute decision and I wrapped them around my hand going down the aisle. You can see them all in my photos and I love it. It was my something borrowed from my mom and now they are mine.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I sort of have a colection of them. It might sound morbid, but somehow, I ended up taking all the sets from the personal belongings of relatives who had passed away, because most of the time no one else really wanted them. My favorite is a sterling silver set from Tiffany's that someone gave my mom years ago. I do take these with me to a wake if I think they will be saying a decade of the rosary.
The only set I bought myself were from the chapel in Sedona and were hand made in Guatemala.
Not sure how you would dispose of them, but I agree that asking your parish is a good idea.

Re: For those that have rosary beads
I have several... some were gifts, some were ones I picked up on my travels. There is something very powerful in a set of rosary beasd, particualry ones from foregin countries... We all pray the same prayesr, but I love how the culture and the craft of that particular place comes through in the beads.
For the cheap plastic ones, I have left them in church... often, by Mary's altar or near other statues and candles where peopel are praying. People either take them or the church staff will remove them and dispose of them properly.
