quck outlet help please!

We have those outlets that have "test" and "reset" on them. I plugged in my hair dryer and all the lights in the bathroom went off and a little light on the outlet came on. I thought I blew a fuse but went downstairs, and nothing is blown. So, I thought I would just have to press "reset" and nothing happened.

Tried to press "reset" on another outlet in the kitchen and now THAT one doesn't work either!

We never had these before - how do we get them to work now?

Thanks!

something like that used to happen to me because we had too many items on one circuit breaker - it didn't blow or anything but we would have to reset the breaker to was on.

Re: quck outlet help please!

Those are GFI (ground fault interrupter) or GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlets. They are designed to trip very fast if there is a short, usually due to water. However, if the entire circuit is overloaded, it will usually trip the circuit at the breaker box (as mentioned above).
