DH told me to do the unthinkable!!!
After bringing me a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast, he says:
"You may have to start thinking about another breakfast alternative to bagels."
Apparently the cost of flour has risen (no pun intended) significantly. In 2006, a 100-pound bag of flour cost about $20. Today, it costs $50. The local bagel shop put up a sign for its customers to anticipate price increases.
Im besides myself. A life without bagels, is like life without air. I need to be held.

Tell him to go buy you a bunch from BJ's. We freeze them and that way they're always handy and a bit cheaper

I would, buti n my current condition, cravings for bagels are bakery specific. Frozen doesnt cut it for me. This is one unhappy lady!

Saw this on the news this week-- it affects everything, from bakeries, to pasta to bagels.
Apparently, farmers are growing more corn than wheat because of the demand for "green oil" which is made from the corn. So, there is just much less wheat to go around. Aside from the cost of bagels, many business and countries who export flour products (like Italy) are suffering due to rising cost of flour.

 I feel your pain. Apparently the price of hops has also increased, and being expensive/microbrew beer lovers, DH and I are very upset with this.
Of course, with you being PG, I think you need the bagels more than we need the beer.

 I still have not found a good bagel in Charlotte! Even with the NY invasion, no one can make an edible bagel.
ets: I did find pizza pretty close to NY pizza. That is a plus.

Can we talk about the price of milk and cheese too? Seriously, went to the local pizzeria here in Bklyn and they're charging $2.25 for a slice! We normally pay $1.25!!!!!!!!!

she's right though! I went to Stop & Shop 2 days ago and could not believe how much everything has gone up in price since the week before!!!
