I think LB should be ashamed of themselves.
They are perpetuating the idea that smaller sizes make us "prettier, better, more attractive".
It's store for plus size women, and they are just making them more self concious.

THIS IS IT! This is what I was thinking and I couldn't figure it out. THANK YOU!Chat Icon

Re: What Do You Think About This?

I am very self conscious and could never bear the thought of my size being broadcasted thru the store. With that said I think the play on numbers is not a terrible idea. When I was heavier (note I am not small now) I would get really depressed with the size issue even when I knew I was doing something about it. So with that said if referencing a size 18 as an 8 makes someone less self conscious and make them focus on how they look in an outfit rather than the size, then hey go for it.

Sorry for the ramble, hope that makes sense.

Disgusting. It perpetuates the thought that you shoudl be ashamed to be a large size.
I'm disappointed in Lane Bryant- you would think of all places, they should embrace being proud to be a big woman.

Also I think they need more big girl stores- with better clothes.

EXACTLY - this is what I was thinking and couldn't put it into words.Chat Icon

Personally, I am one of those bring in multiple sizes girls, too.
But when I am with my friend in Lane Bryant I work with her privately so that she doesn't have to have a salesperson yelling her size out.
I def hear where you are coming from.

Another thought: if you are shopping in Lane Bryant and everyone "knows" what the code is, how is this saving embarassement?

Honestly, I don't really care if people know what size I am.

ITA. I have no problem asking a salesperson for a different size (and saying the # out loud) if they ask if I need another size.

If I was embarassed about my size, though, I think I would feel better about asking for a 4 than say a 34.
