PC/Windows help for a Mac chick....
DHs laptop all of a sudden has no recognizable audio driver. He is running Windows XP. Is there a way I can fix this or is it toast?

it is crappy I think. It is an acer. He only uses it for email.
The tag says....... Acer Aspire5102WLMi
I think something is wrong with the OS, b/c he has been getting some kind of error message at start up saying something about an authentication error?
I wish he would just get a Mac

has someone tried to update the operating system?
did you get this directly from a store...?
the type of message you are ggetting is stateing windows is not legit (there are ways to get around it) as people don't like to pay for stuff sometimes...so people download copies, etc...
follow this link and it should download drivers for the audio card
http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/data/7117/documents/EXT5410_Realtek_Audio_v5.10.0.5273.zip
after you extract the files, it "may" run it self...if you still need help, fm me...
