I have no issue with them. I've been to both male and female strip clubs in the past and had an absolute blast, though I've never been to one with DH. I'd venture to say Dh has only gone once, and didn't like it because he's a total germaphobe 
I really don't see the disempowering for women argument. I mean, come one, there are just as many male strip clubs, so I don't see how it can be weighted against women. Not only that, in a way, I see it as empowerment. Women who, otherwise, wouldn't be able to support themselves, or their family, can use their womanly ways to beguile men into forking over huge amounts of money, just for walking around half-naked - that's a form of empowerment. I agree with the others, I think it makes the people attending the strip club, whether male or female, the real ones who look foolish (myself included in that statement! )

I'm not out to change anyone's mind -- you're free to feel however you want about them -- but I personally am not a fan.
My DH had been to 1 or 2 before he met me and said they're really nothing special or entirely entertaining for him. Neither my husband nor I would ever go to one now. If there's a bachelor / bachelorette party, we will bow out before they go to the strip club (or meet up later if they are going first). Same goes if they are hiring a private stripper. We simply won't participate in that, but will participate in the other, tamer festivities. We both feel it's extremely disrespectful to the other to participate in something like that.
This has nothing to do with trust either. Believe it or not, my husband and I can trust each other and still dislike the idea of strip clubs and watching strippers. I only bring that up b/c there were numerous threads on LIW in the past accusing those people who didn't like their FHs or DHs going to strip clubs of not trusting them. IMHO, it has nothing to do with trust in our relationship.
Like I said above, these are MY personal feelings about strip clubs. I don't debate that others are free to feel differently. I have no opinions or judgments on the girls or guys who work as strippers. Their life, their choice.
ETA - Again, I reiterate, this is how MYSELF and MY husband view them in the context of OUR relationship. Others are free to make their own decisions in their relationships -- and I don't judge that.

Just a thought - I think a lot of 'regular clubs' are WAY sleazier than strip clubs.
I mean - you go to a strip club and there are a bunch of guys salivating over a girl that they are not allowed to touch.
You go to a bar or club and there are people practically having sex in every corner of the room. People who barely know each other have their tongues jammed down each other's throat by the midnight.
I have never had my DH hit on by a stripper when we went to a strip club. But I watched as some random drunk bimbo tried to give him her number and draped herself over him while he was getting me a drink at the bar when we went to Lily Flanigans.
ITA. There are waaaaaaaay worse goings-on at the regular clubs and bars. You'd be amazed at some of the crap I've seen

I don't really care for them, and my boyfriend can go as he pleases....the thing I do feel strongly about is lap dances, to me they're the same as cheating.

when i was younger i use to care. not any more if he wants to go with his friends that is fine as long as he doesnt make it his regular hangout spot. i have been to a few strip clubs for batchelorette parties some of them skeeved me and other ones like the thunder from down under in vegas totally did the opposite! hmmmmm makes me want to go back to vegas!!!!

i agree with u 100%
no trust issues-just dont like the idea of some girl rubbing herself on dhs crotch-and to each his own
i went to one for my bachelorette party-and got pulled on stage not once, but twice-and me, even being the big perv that i am, i was a lil skeeved by it...i was uncomfortable up there  hard for me to admit too!

We have both been, together and apart. I would much rather DH go to a strip club where there are rules than to hire a stripper to a hotel room for a bachelor party.

Kevin - you know I love you, and I know what you mean as a father to a daughter, but I feel that some of them really aren't degrading at all - and actually, really seem to give women the upper hand in a lot of ways!
ITA-the only7 one bei9ng degraded are the men that go in there. Most of these girls are in the back laughing their azzes off at the customers counting their money. My friend worked as a bartender in one(Cafe Royale) and in my single days we would go there before we went out to have a drink or two. The girls are mostly crazy and like I said, they are just actresses...

I totally agree, I have been to a few clubs with DH and some other friends, and the one's on LI really stink. If you like to go, go to a few in SOuth Florida - they are huge, the size of a warehouse, very classy...the decor and the girls. Of all the one's I have talked to, none are into drugs, most were single parents or going to college...some were even lesbians and didn't like men, but did it for the money.

I just burst out laughing from the last choice. I voted for only I can go!  Seriously, I think there's nothing wrong with looking, but I would never want another woman rubbing her bare body over my husband. To me, that's cheating, whether the woman is paid, it's a joke, or whatnot.

As for the girls, it's never fair to judge anyone based on their occupation, so I would never presume to know anything about them, nor would I assume they are crackheads or struggling single moms. I would never make that assumption about a diner waitress, either.
I agree on most Long Island places being nasty. I used to go to places in Florida a lot. Mons Venus and Odyssey 2001. They are near Tampa and aren't the typical Long Island places. I once met the entire Tennesse Titans football coaches at a place. We sat next to them and talk to them for the entire night. Apparently all the players have curfews the night before games so we didn't get to meet any of them.
