My first e-ring (from my ex- FI) was a round solitare. The setting had 4 prongs. I didn't like it becasue it made the stone look very square. DH did a great job with my ring. I have a marquise stone with baguettes on the side.

I have the Tiffany Lucida setting - well, not the real Tiffany setting, a knock off - it makes a round diamond look like a square. I love it. Image Attachment(s):

My engagement ring is an heirloom (it was DH's grandmother's). It's in a 4-prong setting, and yes, people sometimes think its square. It doesn't fit me anymore (2 kids later) and I don't wear it anymore. Here's a pic though:
It's hard to describe the setting, the bottom is square where it comes off the ring, not like the tiffany setting above. Almost like the diamond is sitting on a little box with 4-prongs.

I have the same setting and also a knock off from Christian Bernard. I love that it gives the round diamond a square look.

I really love that setting, too. I think you can see so much of the face of the diamond (or whatever the top is called). Very pretty!!
