My engagement ring broke!
The prongs in the setting were all bent and loose. And one of them on the end was broken off for years now so I knew it was going to happen. I was loading the dishwasher and must of caught it on something and the diamond fell out.  I put them both in a ziploc bag so I don't lose the diamond. It feels weird without it on. I haven't taken it off in over 6.5 years. Well, except when I use chopmeat. That would be nasty to get in a ring!  Now if I only had the money to get a new band. It was white gold. Oh well. Though, I'm not as upset as I would be any other day since I'm mad at DH. I'm sure I'll be more upset tomorrow or the day after. I've been worrying about it falling out for the longest time. At least it fell out at home and I heard it.

I once broke my prong... I took it that second (well right after work) to get fixed!
I can't believe you let it go that long

You might be able to get the prongs fixed without having to replace the whole band - it would cost less.

You are really lucky you didn't lose the diamond. I would take it to a jeweler and have the prongs repaired.

Thank god you heard it!
Honestly, I would find the money to get it fixed, to me - the meaning behind that ring means more than anything else to me, so I would rather find the money to get it fixed rather then let it sit in a ziploc bag

same here!
well, i bent a prong once - i took it immediately.
and one other time i heard a little jingle when i shook my hand - so, my stone was a little loose. i RAN to my repair guy right after work that day.
he says i'm hard on my ring  i didn't realize i was - i don't mean to be and i take it off when cleaning or cooking - hmm.

I take my ring off the minute I get home. I put it and my watch away. I never wear my ring around the house because I don't want to damage it.
