If George, Abe and Tom...
Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson, that is...saw us today...if they saw our country and our values and our behavior, would they be proud of us or disappointed?

Re: If George, Abe and Tom...
Hard to say. 2 of them were wealthy, slave owning men with large properties that they owned.

I wonder, too, what we'd think of them.

Re: If George, Abe and Tom...
Lincoln was in power when our country was SO divided and slavery was the norm in the south - he probably thinks it's better.
I think Washington would like the strong central government, but not like how involved we are with world afairs (but he may change that thought after he figures out all the advances in communications)
Jeffereson would be psyched that we still have an open forum and challenge what our leaders tell us, but I think he would be upset with the state's rights issues.

ITA. Jefferson would also hate how the NE and West Coast have turned into a metropolis -- he hated cities. I think they would also be fascinated by how their names are used...
I also often wonder what John Adams would think of us. He is so underrated and underappreciated, IMO.

Re: If George, Abe and Tom...
well, most of the founding fathers would be upset that we have a 2 party political system. the wanted to avoid parties all together, although the whigs sprung up almost instantly......
I think overall, they'd think our domestic politics is pretty tame.... especially the election process... things were much more contntious back then....
I think they'd be confused that some people bash france so much... without them, our nation wouldn't have lasted 50 years
