My brother was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire College week (with Meredith Viera). He auditioned at college (Queens College). He and another girl made it. The show flew him to Disney, put him up in a nice Disney hotel for a week with the other contestants, and they went free to all the parks.
He had to wear Queens College garb, which he was not fond of to say the least.  But they filmed them going on the rides and acting all sorts of corny in the park. Of course the whole thing was so scripted but made to look "real". They aired these clips before and after commercial breaks.
Myself and my DH were 2 of my brother's "phone a friend" (s). THANK GOD he never called us!
He wound up winning $16,000. He lost on a question about Pablo Neruda. No clue!
He wound up with about $12,000 which he used to purchase a car. Not too shabby. Free trip, free money.
And the best perk is that we taped it and tease him with the footage every chance we get. It's the gift that keeps on giving!
I like this show, it seems that most people who get on get at least $16,000.

DH was on the Weakest link a few years ago(the syndicated version with the guy). It was college week too and he was from Queens college too. He won about 16,000 too. He also knows someone who was on Wheel of fortune.

I have a friend who spent 3 years being a professional game show contestant, she went on them all. She got her current job as a television ideas person through doing this. She never won any money though. Boring Story. I shall end it here.

lol, just when I was getting interested
I didn't know you could do this. Dh was not allowed to try out for another game show for five years. It was in his 20 page contract :)

I tried out for Jeopardy YEARS ago. The tryouts are so so much harder than the actual show - I guess to to get rid of everyone!
Thats true. My brother tried out last week for Jeopardy.
My brother tires out for all shows. He audtioned for American Idol and today he is trying out for American Gladiators.
