nervous

I was just watching "inside the womb" on National Geographic....I taped it. I am nervous. There seems like so much compliacation for the miracle of carrying a baby to full term. I'm 34. I fear that my body will not be able to perform this task.
It jsut seems like so much must happen....am I too old? I'm a young 34, in great shape....but after watching this, it just seems like the impossible. I'st parobably not good to think like this...so negatively....but I can't help it.

Re: nervous

Don't be nervous. That doc., while wonderful and cool, is a little intense.

Don't worry you will be fine. People have babies after 40 and some people, while rare after 50. You have plenty of fertile years ahead.

I can't even watch that becasue we watched it before I had my m/c and dh cried and cried tears of joy b/c i was pg. It would be too many harsh memories for me. But it was really cool.

Re: nervous

Don't be nervous, women's bodies are built to carry babies into their 40's! You will be fine. If stuff like that freaks you out, then stop watching it!!!!!

Just love and BD with DH and let nature takes it's course.

Well now I'm glad that I didn't watch it! I'm a bit of a worrier! Chat Icon

Honestly, don't take it too seriously. Yes, lots can go wrong, but look at how many people carry successful, healthy pregnancies. It's not at all uncommon to have a baby at 34 these days & most women are just fine. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: nervous

my mom had me at the age of 33 in the early 70's. Drs back then treated her like she was ancient, and the pregnancy was doomed.

I came out fine..... (well, relatively Chat Icon ) don't worry. I'm 35.... we have some higher risks, but the odds are still in our favor

Re: nervous

My mother had me, her 4 child and fifth pregnancy, at 38 years old. I am going to be 38 myself this summer.

34 and 38 year old women of today are much healthier, they benefit from much more technologically advanced equipment and research and frankly they much more educated in terms of their own reproductive health than women of years past. Try not to frighten yourself too much and if you can, do not take information you read on any internet website for gospel. Only you and your caretakers know you best. And if you are not comfortable with your caretakers, find new ones.

Good luck and try to enjoy yourself.

I am one of six children and my mom had her last child at 38. It is not uncommon at all to have babies late in age. I am 30 and TTC for my first, my twin sis is having her first my older sister who is 33 is trying for her second. One of my sister in laws started having a family at 34.

Re: nervous

I haven't done much research but some life experience. My mom was 42 when she carried my healthy, full term little sister. 42!!! Doctors really gave her a hard time and she actually really always felt bad because people would make fun of her and say mean things.

My sister, Ashley Nicole, was 8 lbs 5 1/2 ounces and healthy as can be! God bless her!

I was born when my mom was 32....10 years earlier.
