wait I just got emailed an article and it said that Lord & Taylor is buying them. I wonder if they will keep Fortunff the same?

Fortunoff isn't closing it's doors (yet). They filed Chp 11, not 7.

They are being acquired - they're not closing. This is the second change of ownership in recent years. They're actually looking to make it a chain...

It's not gone. Lord & Taylor is buying it. They are going to put money into the stores and the brand.
Chapter 11 is re-org.

Don't worry. Chapter 11 means that they are just reorganizing, not liquidating. Pretty much any airline you fly on is currently in Chapter 11- as is Barneys departmetn store and tons of other businesses.
Lord and Taylors is purchasing them and investing money into fortunoffs, and actually plan to EXPAND fortunoffs.Source
