Can you use chopsticks?
We went to a Korean restaurant last night. I think you may be able to ask for a fork, but they automatically give out chopsticks. I use them once a year or so, so I can effectively feed myself. I'm not great, but I didn't drop anything, and I was even able to feed DD with them. DW is pretty good with them too. I was most impressed with DD. She's 20mo, and she would take the two sticks in her fist, jab the sticky rice, then eat whatever stuck to the chopsticks...

We go for Japanese at least twice a month since our favorite place is right downstairs from where we live.
We've gotten pretty good at it!

My husband is Chinese and I use chopsticks better than he does. He says he prefers a fork anyday.

We always eat chinese or japanese with them at home or in the restaurant. We have a few good sets of them also. My DH is trying to become some sort of KungFu / Karate expert so he started using them regularly at one point. So he will be taking martial arts and eating with chopsticks I gues...  yet another phase

my fh is chinese. we have been dating for 6 plus years. I have learned to use them and have received compliments from chinese strangers.

My hubby is Chinese.
I thought I used them well until I met his family - ha His grandmother said I was ok with them. I'll take that as a compliment.
It was so cute to see his sister's baby chopsticks. How they taught her to use them at such a young age, I don't know but I hope to learn so we can teach our own that young!!!
I learned a little from my Dad (Navy man) but I really picked it up in college when my roomie and I challanged eachother to put ice cubes from one glass to another every time we went out for chinese!!!

I'll stick to using a fork lol I went to Gasho last week and asked for the chopsticks with "trainingwheels" that they give to little kids. Me and sticks don't get along.

i eat chinese food (and sushi when i wasn't PG) several times a month, and i always use chopsticks. my grandmother taught me and my sisters to use them when we were very young, around 4 or so, so i'm pretty good at using them.
DH on the other hand loves his forks.

if I am eating food that calls for chopsticks, then I use chopsticks. My mom taught me how to use them when I was really little, so I am pretty good at it.

Yup - have even used them IN China without making a fool out of myself. While in Hong Kong the first time, I learned chop stick etiquette, too.
