Baptism Question

I just got an invitation to our friends' son's Baptism. I'm Jewish and have never been to one. What is appropriate to give as a gift from me and DH? If money, what's a usual range? TIA! Chat Icon

Re: Baptism Question

A check or savings bond. I'd give $50 - $100, depending on how close they are and what I can afford at the time.

Re: Baptism Question

I think a $50 check or $50-100 savings bond is fine.

Re: Baptism Question

50-100, you can always give a savings bond instead of cash.

Re: Baptism Question

I agree with getting a savings bond. I usually give between $50-100, depending on the closeness of the relationship. I usually give more for family.

Re: Baptism Question

A check or a savings bond. We always give checks and allow the parents the option of how to save / invest the money.

$75-100, depending on how close we are and what we can afford if they aren't family. We give more to family.

We do this too, except for my BF we got her DD a brick to the new Citi Field with DD's name and Bday on it. Her husband is a Mets freak and their DD's middle name is Shea. I can't wait to give it to her.

That is very cool. how do you do that? My nieces middle name is Shay - for Shea because my brother is a major Mets fan but my SIL wouldn't let him have it all thankfully. Chat Icon

ITA. This is normal. If you do not feel comfortable giving a patriot bond (I think you need the SS# now to do this) then in the check please do not make it out to the child...my bank would not cash a check that was made out to baby G.
